I was hesitant to start counseling because I felt like my lifestyle and previous choices might be judged. I didn't need judgement, I need help coping with the past and moving forward. My counselor has been extremely understanding and not at all judgemental. I feel like I can tell her how I feel without judgement.

Psychologist/spiritual teacher/author Ram Dass once said: "We're all just walking each other home." Over our 4 months together, Harriet has been a kind, compassionate, and genuine voice of reason and support to me during a very difficult time in my life. We laughed. We showed up. We did "the work". I will carry the lessons I've learned with Harriet with me for the rest of my life.

I am a professional counselor licensed in Missouri with thirteen years' combined experience in the mental health field. For the past 5 years I have worked almost exclusively with children and teens who have experienced abusive trauma, treating anger, depression, anxiety and PTSD symptoms that often accompany it. In addition, I have educated and supported adults in addiction recovery, survivors of domestic violence, and parents of traumatized children.
My counseling style is warm and collaborative. I believe in unconditional positive regard and a shared partnership in identifying treatment goals and steps to obtain them. I combine elements of CBT, EMDR, and DBT therapies as well as practical, mindful solutions that can easily be incorporated into our daily lives. Each client-counselor relationship is as unique as the people in them; as our conversation evolves, I will customize my approach to meet your individual needs. You are worth more than one-size-fits-all treatment.
Starting therapy with someone new can be daunting, whether it's your first time to counseling or not. I'm so glad you've decided to invest in your mental and emotional health, because YOU MATTER!
I look forward to getting to know you better. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to help you find the answers you seek.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

She is really great
Harriet has been a lifeline for me over the past couple of years. When I came to her originally I was struggling so badly that I thought I’d feel that way forever, but I’m happy to say that she proved me wrong. She stuck by me with endless patience and encouragement and never lost faith in me, even when I lost it in myself. I have no doubt that Harriet genuinely cares for her clients, she is a truly wonderful person who has the ability to make you smile during even your darkest moments. Her compassion and kindness towards me is something that I will be forever grateful for, as I wouldn’t be the person that I am today without her. She listens intently, never judges and has always been there to support me without fail. Meeting Harriet was the silver living to a bad situation as she has taught me lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I would recommend her in a heartbeat, she is both a very special person and an incredibly gifted therapist.
Harriet is a wise and thoughtful therapist who has helped me tremendously. I feel very fortunate to have found such a talented and insightful person who is so kind and committed to her clients. Thank you, Harriet.
She’s so wonderful. She’s able to listen to my ramblings about how I feel and then help me break them down into specific points to be discussed and worked on.
I've been with Harriet off and on for years now. My sessions with her have been invaluable in helping me better understand myself and the issues I struggle with. She gives me tools I can act on, a plethora of outside resources I can look into, and positive support when I'm feeling vulnerable. She's a fabulous therapist who genuinely cares for others. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants someone on their side who is both a great counselor and a wonderful human.
When I first started BetterHelp I was originally matched with a different counsellor and I felt like it wasn't the best fit. I decided to switch counsellors and ended up choosing Harriet. I'm so glad I did! Harriet is so kind and I feel like she actually listens. I would definitely recommend her!
In the time I have been working with Harriet I get the sense that she is listening carefully to me and understanding that I am struggling with many different aspects of life. She is taking the time to help me explore what's going on with worksheets and pointed questions, and giving me space to think and write in between sessions. This guidance is very useful and helps me to think more clearly about how I want to move forward with our sessions and, ultimately, with my life.
She is very calming and supportive.
She is very understanding and is kind in helping me feel better and cope with my mental health condition. I will continue to see her and would recommend her to anyone.
I was nervous about starting therapy, but Harriet has been so incredibly patient and supportive and kind. It took me a little while to start to open up, but I can see my progress in every meeting using the tools she's given me. I am excited to see where this goes!
Harriet is a supportive and lovely counsellor. She is always genuinely interested in what I have to say.
Harriet is wonderful. In my first live session, she wrote something that made me physically sit back from my computer and say "WHOA" out loud. It's great to have someone who can offer really useful alternative perspectives.
Harriet made me feel at ease straight away and really feels like she listens to my concerns. Feeling the benefit even after just a few sessions.
I have been working with Harriet for a short time, but she has been so insightful and very responsive. I like having her as part of my team!
Harriet is very knowledgeable in guiding me through some old trauma and helping me understand its effects. She asks thought provoking questions. Harriet is great at responding to emails or sending one to check in on me. I'm very thankful to have her as a counselor.
Harriet has been responsive to my needs. She has offered practical guidance to help me make personal progress.
Harriet has been invaluable to me. I found her earlier this year and I'm so glad I did. I have been working through some very heavy topics with her and she is very caring, understanding and helpful. She has given me many tools to use in my everyday life to help cope with grief and anger. She is so great!
I’ve been using BetterHelp for a few months now and I’ve been working with Harriet since the beginning; I love working with her! I’ve got more out of these past few months of therapy than I have in years of other therapy. Some would say it’s working so effectively because it’s the “right time” and maybe that’s true... but I definitely think it’s because of the way BetterHelp works; the way you’re able to connect with your therapist and all the other cool tools you can utilize too, like worksheets, group sessions and the journal... AND I definitely think therapy is helping me so much right now because I’m lucky enough to be working with Harriet, who makes me feel totally safe and heard and with her expertise and kindness is teaching me about myself and helping work out how my brain and heart operate. Harriet is professional and really knows her stuff- she and BetterHelp are changing my life as we speak!
Harriet has been extremely responsive to my needs.
Harriet has been a wonderful help to me. She understands what I've been going through and is giving me solid advice on how to sort my problems. I would highly recommend her. Online counseling has been wonderful even though I'm used to the traditional method of going to visit a building. I can journal all I want and share with Harriet.
Only just started counseling with Harriet but she seems very approachable and has already helped me a lot.
I have greatly appreciated all of Harriet Gordon's support. She's worked with my chaotic travel/work schedule and really made me feel supported. I have worked through numerous deeply seeded issues and the process has been enjoyable.
Harriet has supported me through a time in my life where I felt lost. As someone who has never spoken to a therapist before I was anxious, but instantly felt at ease and understood. She encourages me to take things at my own pace, whilst offering a non-judgmental perspective. I am grateful to have someone so kind and empathetic find my way back to myself. She has helped me so much already and continues to do so every day.
I usually have a hard time warming up to people, especially therapist, doctors, etc, but Harriet had me at ease with her first message to me. She really does listen and is great at helping me see things from a different angle.
Really lovely, caring and uplifting person to work with. Highly recommended.
Absolutely fab!! So supportive and understanding, I never feel judged and the sessions are helping me so much.
There simply aren’t enough words to praise her abilities. She is direct, kind, patient, insightful, all the things I had been looking for in a therapist but couldn’t find in one person. She has given me my life back.

I love Harriet and I can see that she is a great person. She’s already helped me out a lot so far and I’m very grateful.
I have only been working with Harriet for a couple of weeks and feel immensely better. It is the first time I have spoken to a therapist and felt understood and I genuinely think I would be friends with her if she weren’t my therapist lol
I felt understood and listened to
In our one session I felt extremely comfortable and confident in her skills. I look forward to our next interaction. I love this format because it is so easy to find the time to have this help. I have shared this service to my friends. Thank you!
Harriet and I worked through some trauma I had in regards to a past relationship. She really allowed me to go at my pace and helped me re-frame my thoughts and become excited for the future.
