More about Joan

I was raised on a family farm with seven siblings. My farm family beginnings have created in me the knowledge that we all have purpose and we all search for meaning in our lives. My eyes have always been open to the beauty of nature and the harshness of survival. My years as a mother of six children have proven to me that strength can be found in each human being. Each child is unique in talent and ability. Every person must be nurtured and guided along the way. Hazards and obstacles are present, buts so is faith, attitude, and endurance. I have owned and operated a business. In this, we have enjoyed long term success and discouraging failure, complete with disloyalty and theft. I have been fortunate to have been raised in Christianity. I do know that throughout my life I have not walked alone. Because of the business loss, my life has found its true calling. The richness of the counseling relationship has opened my eyes to the joy of helping others realize their self-worth. It is my hope to facilitate the change in my client that serves to make his/her life more joyful and purposeful.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

I arrived under severe stress from a surprise termination. I needed someone to talk to and air my concerns. Speaking with Joan, I started working on a path to recover. I have now arrived. Most important was her understanding of my motivation and recognizing why at age 74, I was not finished, more to do and achieve.

What little experience I had with her-just one therapy session by phone-I think she would be very helpful for someone with depression. But I’m not depressed. I take antidepressant medication to help control DID. She admitted this was not something that she had experience with, and I was pleased with her candor. She had a very calm voice which was very peaceful.

I feel very comfortable with Joan. It is nice that she is about my age and understands the issues we face as we get older. She gave me some work sheets to fill in and my immediate response was ,"oh no, stupid worksheets!" In fact, working through them was very helpful and make me think. I would recommend Joan to anyone. Also, my best friend's name is Joan, which I took as a "sign"!!
