I have recommended this service and my counselor by name to many people in my rural area where accessing counseling is difficult. For me it is over an hour away, and I'd have to find babysitting for 6 kids every week and have no access between appointments. This service is a lifesaver.

More about Jason

Hello, I am Jason!

I believe my skills best match with people struggling adjusting, encountering stress or anxiety, needing encouragement, dealing with grief, or experiencing some depression. My approach is to build a trusting, honest relationship with you. I want to provide you compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy while also being honest and real with you. I use an eclectic approach, primarily a mix of person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and REBT. I also use a lot of encouragement and support. I provide links to articles and videos, personal feedback, and various worksheets to help give you insight, and build new skills. Although my focus is on our relationship and empathy, I am future-thinking. I think this helps with troubleshooting and goal-setting. Research has shown that having a solid therapeutic relationship often is supportive of a positive therapeutic outcome. If something isn’t working, let’s have a conversation about it. I can be flexible.

I have many years of experience working with all kinds of people with different kinds of struggles. I'm licensed in Montana but now live on the East Coast. I work a day job and communicate with my clients primarily in the evenings. That is also when I am available for appointments, usually between 7 and 10 PM EST. I understand if that does not fit your schedule. I typically respond sooner than 24 hours. For this reason, it’s pretty challenging for me to respond to urgent messages. I am available for chat, phone, or video sessions. I typically do 1-hour appointments. I have availability mostly in the evenings.

By partnering with me, I believe I can instill hope, restore confidence, and support you as you make the changes necessary to get you where you want to be. Just like having a gym membership doesn't make you fit, having a subscription here won't help you by itself. This will take work. It will take communication. Be an active participant in your mental health. You’re welcome to write messages or make appropriate appointments that fit your life’s routine. This is your service to use as you see fit.

I look forward to working with you. Thank you for trusting me. You can do this, and I can help.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Dr. Newcomb is very knowledgeable about the Word of God and what the Bible says on a topic. He pairs this with other resources, worksheets, and dialog in a way that makes perfect sense. He is great at helping a person to apply what they know and are learning to their lives. He is patient, compassionate, and gentle, but he also knows when to push a bit. I feel as if what I have to say matters. I also feel safe to discuss personal issues and difficulties. I am confident that he puts thought into his replies and they always line up with scripture. Highly recommend!

He's a really kind and relatable guy! When you're feeling down on yourself he listens and offers genuinely helpful tips and advice. And when you feel like your opinions and thoughts are stupid and don't matter he shows that they do matter and shows how those thoughts are valid in their own ways!

Dr Newcomb has been a great help! Very understanding, yet up front with what I need to do to get myself to where I need to be. Gave me all the tools to sort through my thoughts and handle my anxiety

Reviewed June 2019

I highly recommend Dr. Newcomb. He has been absolutely fantastic with helping me through issues, boundaries and self-confidence matters I hadn’t been able to talk through with other therapists. He provides a lot of detail, extra reading material and activities to practice to help with different matters. I am so happy and grateful for Dr. Newcomb. I would highly recommend him and BetterHelp. It’s so much better being able to talk to a therapist daily, as opposed to a one hour meeting once a week where you forget half of what you want to say and there’s not enough time or you remember more details later. Through this app I have been able to write down and organize as much as I want to write and completely get everything off my chest! It’s also a much more affordable option.
