All of us face difficulties or unexpected challenges at some point in our lives, and sometimes it can feel too overwhelming to manage on our own. I have a compassionate, supportive, and caring approach to counseling, and I know reaching out for help is not easy. Through the counseling process, I can help you to find some peace of mind, and develop your inner strength to move forward.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I have over sixteen years of counseling experience. I earned my graduate degree in marriage and family counseling in California in 2005, and my wife and I moved to Texas in 2009.

My counseling style combines compassion and empathy with a solution-focused approach, utilizing various forms of mindfulness and cognitive-based therapies, such as acceptance commitment therapy, to explore how thoughts and coping styles influence how we manage our feelings. I specialize in depression, anxiety, grief, men's issues, trauma, and relationship issues; and, I help my clients to counter irrational thoughts and beliefs, assess their needs, build on their strengths, and focus on their goals.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Kevin Brugman is extremely well qualified, compassionate, attentive and probably the best therapist I have had or even heard of. He is the perfect therapist for my needs and concerns.

Kevin is a breath of fresh air. After cycling through many different counselors over the years, I feel like I’m finally connected, growing, and being equipped with tools that are improving my mental well-being and my relationship with my wife. Kevin is patient, compassionate, non-judgemental, and brings a depth of experience to our sessions. I am so thankful he takes time for clients on BetterHelp. As a dad with two young kids, my time for counseling is limited. But thankfully for BetterHelp, I can put my kids to bed and then go back to my office for our evening session. This has been a blessing.
