Hello! It can be a scary process to start therapy and I will do my best to respect who you are and what goals you are seeking. I believe therapy should be a two way street where you and I work together to decide what is best for you. Your current emotional struggle does not have to define your future. Working together, my hope is to help empower, encourage and educate you in finding resolution to this struggle.

I’ve been a clinical counselor for 20 years and currently work in a private practice. I wrote a book "2bits" which is on Amazon. I specialize in alcohol and drug issues along with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, bipolar, work issues, spirituality struggles, family & relationship issues, marriage and divorce struggles, ADHD management for adults and adolescents, teen issues, life transitions, self esteem, anger and stress management. I have extensive experience helping those who are struggling with alcohol or drugs recover, along with helping those heal who have experienced trauma or loss.

I have my own Telehealth practice and can accept insurance for sessions through that practice if you live in Ohio or Florida. Please let me know if you would like to utilize your insurance.

My aim is to learn from each person’s story and keep an open mind so I can see what is needed to help. I will not presume to know or judge you because of what you’ve been through.

I am nationally certified as a Master Addiction Counselor and National Certified Counselor through the National Board Of Certified Counselors and am a Licensed Professional Independent Counselor in Ohio. I received my bachelors degree In Psychology from John Carroll University in Ohio and my Masters Degree in Counseling and Human Development at Walsh University in Ohio.

My experience includes: private practice, community mental health, crisis intervention and hospitalizations, alcohol and drug recovery rehab, EAP, DOT, domestic violence groups, anger management groups, alcohol/drug recovery groups, group home for troubled youth, case management, shelter for runaway street kids in New York, Harlem and California, hospice floor for AIDS patient, and terminally ill floor for kids.

My goal is to utilize my education and experience to empower and help you navigate anything you feel is holding you back in life. I believe people have the ability to get through adversity, can change and that one approach does not fit all.

Timothy is the most understanding and attentive counselor I've ever had. He is honest and caring, but also pushes me to open my mind and heart wider to get more out of the therapy. He is very good at what he does, and I think we click, making therapy such a healthy outlet for me.

Timothy Welch really individualizes his approach to communication, which I’ve found beneficial in increasing my trust in him. He is able to pinpoint the root cause of issues and provides expert ways to cope with or relieve insecurities. He provides validation, but also assists with irrational thoughts caused by past trauma. I highly recommend him.

Timothy is awesome. It's really important for me to have an un-censored approach to therapy. Sometimes you get screwed up, and there's no sense in beating around the bush for the sake of professionalism. There's no pomp-and-circumstance with Timothy. He's very real and honest. Conversation feels organic, and it works to bring out your issues naturally like that. In the best way, Timothy doesn't feel at all "shrinky".

Timothy is a great therapist for real, he knows how to listen and he really understands how you are feeling, I feel comfortable sharing my feelings to him because I know he wouldn’t judge me at all!

Very responsive and was able to get at the core of my problem quickly .

It is very early in the therapy relationship, so I would probably be better equipped to do this when we’ve had more than 1 session. However, I have really appreciated his calm and thoughtful way of questioning. It doesn’t feel rushed, and so far he has been a help in guiding me through manageable pieces of work and thought. I also appreciate that he integrates big picture and acknowledges the smaller, living-this-moment aspect too. I have made a little progress and am looking forward to working with him further.
