Derek helped me to work through my anxiety and create a framework that allowed me to leave my toxic workplace environment in a manner that wasn't impulsive or self destructive. He's a phenomenal listener, and really understood the traumas that I had experienced while simultaneously treating me with respect.

Reviewed February 2024

Derek was thoughtful, humorous, and positive. For me I found the upbeat vibe in our sessions to be not what I preferred, though he was very pleasant to work with!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

The little things he shares about his own family and experiences helps me because I can see that he's human just like the rest of us. It's definitely more comfortable feeling like I'm talking to a friend than a 'doctor'. I appreciate his kind approach, his compassion for my feelings, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing to talk to someone without feeling like they are being judged.

Really good counselor and provides detailed insights into how to handle issues. Only critique would be for the sessions to go quicker when it comes to getting to the main topic of the counseling session that the counselor would like to discuss.

Derek took the time to listen to the issues I have been having and that is so important. Then we moved on to discussing how I truly feel, and even let me know that I may feel vulnerable at times. Now we are working on the therapy to help me get my feelings out instead of holding them inside for years on end. I could not have asked for a more understanding counselor.
