Hello, I am glad you are reaching out for support for whatever difficulties you are currently experiencing. My counseling practice is dedicated to helping people make changes in their thinking and behaviors in order to have happier healthy lives. I also teach some Mindfulness based coping strategies. I have spent the past twenty years working with people with major mental illness, substance problems, or simply experiencing difficult life events. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental setting where people can work on their goals. Some people enter therapy simply for a confidential place to express feelings while others are looking for help resolving life-long issues.

At your first appointment I will gather some information from you about your experiences and what brings you in for help. The first few appointments are often a process of the client and therapist determining if we are a good match for therapy. Often times the therapeutic approach is secondary to the client feeling like they can connect with the therapist. Therapy will be individualized depending upon your needs and goals. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Enhancement Therapy and will focus on finding an approach that is most helpful for you. I work with people with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance/alcohol use disorders and also with people trying to improve emotional coping skills or just trying to manage life problems. I look forward to working with you.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
