Asking for help can be one of the hardest parts of therapy and many people suffer for years before seeking help. Whether it's been years or a day that you've been struggling, it would be an honor to have the opportunity to help you find the version of yourself that is most fulfilling to you.

My name is Marvin Bellows, LPC, CRC and I've been in this field for about a decade now. In that time I graduated with a Master's of Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of North Texas and completed multiple internships in the areas of mental health and disability. While working with individuals affected neurological conditions (Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, MS, Guillain-Barré) and those with developmental disabilities (Autism, ADHD, Learning Disabilities) is my specialty, I also have significant experience working with individuals with primary mental health concerns (Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar) and others just having a hard time in relationships or in their careers.

My primary approach to helping others heal is called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, but the name isn't all that important. What is important is that it is a way of helping someone shift away from patterns of behavior that lead them away from that most fulfilling version of themselves and instead pivot towards that person. I also use elements from other styles of therapy to compliment this approach including more traditional behavioral and cognitive behavioral therapies, education, and skills training to learn new ways of coping, interacting with others, and managing daily problems. All of these techniques have research backing and continue to show promise with additional studies being published regularly.

Still, a big part - if not the biggest - part of therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. Providing a relationship full of warmth, acceptance, and honesty is one of my greatest strengths as a therapist. I look forward to walking with you down the path of healing, celebrating the victories that come and sticking by your side to help you through any setbacks.

One last piece of information about me: I'm a nerd and I'm proud of it. I hope that we can be nerds together by bringing in to the session the things that you are passionate about to help you move forward. Whether it's Football or Dungeons and Dragons, I've found that using the things people love in therapy makes a huge difference.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Marvin Bellows is an outstanding counselor. He makes our sessions a comfortable and free space to express myself and work through difficult feelings in addition to understanding where some of the difficulties may stem from.

Marvin has really helped me trust my own judgement and instincts in areas where I was least confident. He has helped me accept myself and respect myself. In addition to that, he has explained how I can communicate more effectively and how I could be more practical in matters where I'd become unnecessarily emotional. What I appreciate most about Marvin is the amount of time he has dedicated to helping me. He is very supportive and understanding.
