Leah has been nothing but understanding with me. I thought my problems no one would understand, which is why it stopped me speaking to someone. But Leah made me feel comfortable in opening up to her and not feeling judged. I've only had a couple sessions but my head is so much clearer and positive

Welcome! Thank you for stopping by and reading my page. My name is Leah and I'm a Licensed Independent Social Worker - Clinical Practice in the State of South Carolina. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies and from The University of Chicago with a A.M. in Social Work. I have 12 years of clinical, administrative and supervisory experience. I have worked with adults, couples, adolescents, children and their families in clinical settings, as well as out in the community, in homes, schools and hospitals. I have extensive experience utilizing crisis management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and conflict management. I have worked with clients in addressing concerns around interpersonal relationships, mood/anxiety disorders, ADHD, parenting techniques, trauma, addiction, self-harm and suicidal ideation.

My therapeutic philosophy: I believe in working together to build a safe and reliable therapeutic relationship and space to address your concerns. I believe you are the expert in yourself and I'm here to work alongside you to ensure that you reach your highest potential. Together, we will work to identify your primary concerns while simultaneously assessing your goals, achievements and built-in coping and problem-solving skills.

A little about myself: I was born in Paraguay and moved to the United States when I was 12 years old. I lived in the Chicagoland area for 20 years before moving to South Carolina for warmer weather and to be closer to family. I love being near the beach and being able to spend time outdoors year round, with my family. I have two girls ages 5 and 3 that keep me busy! I enjoy staying active and living a healthy and well balanced lifestyle. I have been doing CrossFit with my husband for over 10 years. I also love music, dining out and traveling.

Once again, I want to thank you for stopping by and want to acknowledge that you're here today. Know that sometimes, finding the right therapist takes time, patience and perseverance. I know that you will find your perfect match. If you'd like to reach out to me, I'm just a click away!

I look forward to working with you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
