Tianna has been absolutely wonderful. I’ve been with her for over a year and she has been a crucial part of helping me get through all the things life has thrown my way. She listens actively and always has great sound advice and doesn’t just tell me what I would want to hear. I feel like she’s become a sounding board for me and a safe place to share. Very thankful for BetterHelp and for Tianna and all the help and guidance she’s given me.

I feel blessed to have been placed in the care of Tianna. I’ve struggled with therapists in the past. If they use fancy language or come across as gimmicky, I don’t connect and therefore don’t heal and grow. Tianna always comes at me at my level. She listens more than she talks. And I know, not think, that she cares for me.

Hello! If you are exploring Better Help, it is likely you are going through something really challenging and I am proud of you for taking the brave step of seeking help. When looking for a therapist, it's important to find one whose style and experience feels right for you. The relationship and comfort level between the client and therapist can make or break your therapy experience. I want this to be a comforting and safe space for you to share your feelings. I would like to share a little about myself to help you decide if I might be a good match for you.

My name is Tianna and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my undergraduate degree in Human Development/Family Studies and Master's degree in Social Work from Indiana University in 2009. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including: home-based, schools, youth shelters, residential programs, and inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. I have years of experience working with individuals of all ages and a wide array of challenges. Some of these challenges include depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, substance abuse, divorce, parenting struggles and crisis stabilization. Growing up in an impoverished area of northern Indiana, I experienced or witnessed many of these issues first hand, which helps me have a greater sense of understanding and empathy for my clients and this is also what lead me down my career path.

My style is warm, compassionate and nonjudgmental but I am also honest and direct with my clients. I believe my clients are the experts on their lives and determine the direction and depth of therapy. Using strength-based and solution focused approaches, I hope to draw out a deeper understanding of the challenges my clients face while guiding them to find the solutions by building on the skills, knowledge and abilities they often don't know they have. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist clients in learning how their thoughts influence their feelings and behaviors often keeping them from achieving the progress they hope for. I also believe in the benefits of mindfulness and breathing exercises to help with regulating emotions. I value the feedback from my clients and encourage them to let me know if something we are doing is not working for them.

On a personal level, I took several years off to stay home with my twins and also raise my teenage niece. We have moved frequently due to my husband's career who also works in mental health. In addition to Indiana we have lived in Texas and Tennessee. I enjoy outdoor adventures, yoga and interior design in my free time.

I have been working with Tianna for a couple of months now and she has helped me more tremendously. She actively listens and gives good advice. She isn't just going to fluff things up and tell you what you want to hear and I really appreciate that. She has been so encouraging and is constantly reminding me of who I am and empowering me to be better. She is wise and has helped me to think through my decisions and has been a safe place for me to process. I have seen many counselors in my life and she is by far the best in my opinion. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Tianna Burrough's is one of the best counselors I have ever had! and I have had alot!! She is resourceful, empathetic and motivating all at the same time. I am beyond thankful to have her one my healthcare team and better help allows me to have consistent visits that isnt affected by moving. thank god I wont have to change counselors when I move! She has taken me from damage control to planning out preventative measures and I am sooo thankful!! My favorite thing about her is she asks questions that open your mind instead of just telling you what to do she gives you the tools to be able to handle life.
