Welcome to Better Help! I’m glad you’re ready to take the first step in making changes to improve your life! I would welcome the opportunity to accompany you on this journey.

My name is Sheila Freeman. I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1997 and have worked in the mental health and substance abuse field for 22 years. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Kentucky. I have experience working with both adults and children (ages 6-18). To me, a collaborative, client-centered approach is the foundation of therapy. We work together to make the changes you want to make. I encourage you to voice the changes you want to see in your life and work to help you create a plan for making those changes a reality. The relationship between you and your therapist is an essential aspect of your therapy. I strive to create a safe, accepting environment for you to explore the issues affecting you, without bias or labels.

My style draws on perspectives and tools from a variety of different approaches to therapy. I have experience helping clients to deal with anxiety disorders, depression, grief, childhood abuse, addiction, relationship issues, parenting issues, and making life changes. The methods I employ include Client-Centered approaches, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic techniques and Mindfulness-based techniques. I would welcome the opportunity to join you as you make changes to improve your life.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
