Paula has been the best therapist I have ever seen. She has really help by holding me accountable in a kind way, listening to my rambling and finding the root issue inside of it and by having my back, supporting my need and advocating for me when I don’t. I really appreciate all the work and time she has spent with me and I value the lessons I have learned with and from her more then she might now.

Hello! Welcome to BetterHelp!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been in the social work field for over 20 years. I have a variety of experiences from working with children and families through day treatment and in-home support, to individual counseling for adults facing mental health symptoms, domestic violence, homelessness, chronic illness and criminal history. I have extensive experience in the areas of ADHD, autism, trauma, depression, relationships, anxiety and parenting.

I practice strengths based, client centered therapy. I believe that building a trusting, strong therapeutic relationship is key to your successful engagement in therapy and I provide a safe, empathetic, non-judgmental space for this to occur. I also believe that skill building, self-care, mindfulness and building natural supports is important in your journey to meeting your goals.

I am a parent to two children, one of which has special needs. I genuinely understand the stress of parenting, navigating relationships, juggling responsibilities, accessing services, schools and resources.

I look forward to supporting you in reaching your therapeutic goals.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Paula is the first counselor who actually gets me. It is nice to be understood.

Reviewed April 2021

Paula immediately dove in with me, because I like to get right to the issues in the first visit. She met me on the level I needed, sent me resources, and is helping me with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). She also helped me to identify situations where emotional abuse/manipulation might be occurring. I would recommend Paula to anyone who is really serious about "doing the work", she is a skilled CBT mentor and is invested in helping me achieve my goals. By far the best counselor on this site I've had (she is my 4th, over a long period of time).

Reviewed March 2021

I always get something from the session and new awarenesses I didn’t have before. Highly recommend others to try talking with her even if therapy felt like a waste before because I have been there! Invest in yourself.
