Welcome! You're here because you have an interest in changing your life. You've already shown a great amount of courage and initiative in taking your first steps toward embracing your best self; it is an honor and a privilege for me to help you do just that.

I'd like to give you some information about my background. I received my B.A. in psychology from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA in 2004. After graduating college, I worked in the community as an outreach case worker for adults with chronic and severe mental health diagnoses as well as dual diagnoses. During this time, I assisted in crisis intervention, clinical assessment, as well as individual/group counseling to evaluate treatment goals and objectives. I went on to receive my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ in 2009. When I obtained approval by the State of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2015, I began working for a community agency as an intensive in-home clinician for at-risk children, youth and their families. During this time, I've had the privilege of providing individual as well as family counseling services to those families in need of stabilization in the community. I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor through the NBCC.

I consider myself to be a very client-focused clinician; your beliefs, needs and goals are what drive treatment first and foremost. I also like to incorporate tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Motivational Interviewing. I feel as though the key to change is mindset; as a result, I like to do a good deal of work with mindfulness as well as cognitive reframing. As someone who has worked with a great many families, I also have a wealth of experience in family dynamics, healthy communications, and appropriate boundary setting within the family unit. I also have the benefit of parenting experience through having a toddler of my own!

Some areas of focus with which I have experience treating include: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, self-injury, relationship issues, parenting problems, family issues, career challenges, and panic disorder. I've worked with both children and adults who have faced abandonment, emotional trauma, physical trauma, or sexual trauma.

I consider myself an easygoing, disarming person to talk to; my job is to make you feel comfortable, as if you are talking to an old friend. I also pride myself in getting people to utilize a different lens through which they can view the world; one with endless possibilities, less pain, and more peace. My sincere hope is that I can help promote healing and lasting change for you, regardless of what you seek.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Kristy is amazing- she has given me so many tools to work through day to day anxieties and the general overwhelming responsibilities that life throws at us. I had the option to start back at therapy with a free program through work, but opted to restart my journey with Kristy and BetterHelp because I felt such a connection and love the platform. Very thankful to have a therapist who understands, guides, and motivates me and a platform that allows me to prioritize my mental health in a way that isn’t disruptive to my busy lifestyle!

Kristy is THE BEST!! She is so incredibly quick in replying and always knows exactly what to say. I love that I can truly be open and honest. In struggling with regular life, a fear is often “hearing what I don’t want to hear.” I have fortunately never experienced that with Kristy- instead she is kind, compassionate, and understanding all while giving tangible, real life suggestions and advice. There is no one else I rather see for therapy and I’m thrilled to have found her!
