Warm Greeting from the beautiful state of New Mexico, where I am licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor for the last 20 years. My name is Megan Rafferty and I have been enjoying doing counseling for a total of 30 years. I look forward to meeting you.

Is there something in your life you are struggling with ? Is there some part of you that is in pain emotionally? Maybe you would like to learn how to better handle a situation?

Together we can build emotional safety for you to explore and discover what you wish to.

Using a non judgmental, client centered , holistic approach, we can build on your strengths and explore the areas that of interest and concern to you.

Together we can find meaning and depth in what you walking through, and also help you find balance and awareness for your whole being (mind/body/spirit/emotions/behavior). We can approach life's challenges and stay curious to see if there may be any thoughts or emotions that may be holding you back from your potential and your power to positively change your life.

Throughout the years , I have been a counselor/trainer/mediator/professor and worked with adults, teens, children, families, parents, couples, and groups in issues of grief and loss, moving through life changes, stress management, communication, family systems, divorce and separation, marriage therapy, art therapy, parenting, workplace conflict, LGBTQQIP2SAA +, caregiving a loved one, and finding your life's meaning and purpose.

If we stay open minded and attuned to supporting your whole being and your goals, it is amazing what positive internal and external changes may occur.

People make wonderful changes and heal on a really regular basis, and you can too become more of your authentic beautiful self.

Please note: If in the last few months you have been feeling suicidal or having thoughts of wanting to hurt yourself, I would not be able to work with you because I am working part-time only, and availability would be limited. It would be better to chose a counselor who is working full-time for BetterHelp. BetterHelp is not an emergency service, please contact 911 or 988, or please call 1-800-273-8285 if feeling like you want to hurt yourself. or others. This is not intended for court ordered therapy. And I do not send out any forms or contact any other providers on your behalf because the work you do here is

confidential.

Thank you,

Megan Rafferty, M.Ed, LPCC, LMT

I have worked with Megan for almost 3 years now, and after all the work we have done I'm ready to sign off therapy. I could not thank Megan enough for the support she has provided for me over this time. Her gentle, compassionate approach gave me a safe space to heal and develop tools to care for myself. From the very beginning, she had encouraged me to have that compassion towards myself, which she had modeled so well throughout the process. I have also learned so much from her, she provided me with useful information and wisdom applicable to the experiences I was speaking to (work, relationships, addictions, ect.) Always providing that information with that gentle compassion. She was also very skilled and helpful at guiding me through somatic healing which allowed me to meet with and heal my wounds through my body. I had met with deep emotions that had been locked in my heart for ages, and connected with the many forms if my inner children. Megan helped me create and provide a loving, caring safe space for them. The process of healing through therapy had been a challenging, beautiful and transformative process. I am so grateful to Megan for playing a crucial role in my healing journey.

Megan Rafferty it’s exactly what I have needed in a therapist. When relating an issue she just listens and when she sees something that is sticking is she politely breaks in and asks me to elaborate on it. That gets far deeper than I have experienced from any previous therapist. She can keep up with my disconnected thinking pattern that some therapists find daunting. She doesn’t counsel, she digs at the pain until I could heal it.

Megan is patient, kind, and intelligent. I was skeptical about therapy for the longest time, but as soon as I opened up to Megan, I realized how beneficial it is for me. She’s helped me work through a lot of things and I like that in each session, we tackle a different problem. No two sessions are the same for us - which is a good thing. At times she’s been my only source of encouragement and positivity, and I cannot thank her enough for this. I also really appreciate that I can talk to her about absolutely anything, and she has never told me that something is “out of her scope”. I trust her a lot and look forward to working on my personal goals with her help.

Working on my issues and confronting my problems isn’t easy but Megan makes it a worthwhile, valuable, and effective experience. She listens carefully to what I say and gives me techniques to help me cope with and overcome problem thinking. Then it’s up to me to tailor the technique to make it work best for me, and Megan supports that. She is my cheerleader, she is an external brain to help me make sense of my thought processes, and she has a wide array of strategies at the ready when I need something to grasp onto quickly. A small part of me gets a little anxious a couple minutes before therapy is going to start but for the most part I look forward to each session. And I think that the small amount of anxiousness is good because any big goal worth doing usually comes with big challenges and if I’m not passionate about it then I’m not going to have any feelings about it at all and quit. So in this case small anxiety is good and equates to passion for my goal to make myself feel better, relate better, and generally be happier and more satisfied with my life choices. Thank you to Megan for setting me on a good path to a happier and more laughier me.
