More about Lauren

  • 18 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

Welcome! I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LCSW-R) in the state of New York and have been in practice for over 18 years. I spent many years working with families and teenagers, including those in the foster care system, and have been a foster parent myself for 15 years. I understand the unique issues facing many families today including attachment issues and blending families. I also served as a crisis therapist for 7 years, responding to individuals with overwhelming issues or thoughts of self-harm.

I have extensive experience working with trauma and grief, and have served our nation's Veterans for more than 11 years. I am proficient in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and attachment centered therapy. I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT,) and provide a stable base from which to work on resolving trauma, increasing self-esteem, and personal growth. My approach incorporates the foundation of unconditional regard, meaning that every person is worthwhile in and of themselves, and I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the agent of change. I can assist you in learning to live a healthier and more balanced life, centered on achieving the goals that you envision.

I have seen the amazing change and growth that can result from therapy, and understand the courage it takes to reach out and begin the process. My promise is to make this a safe and rewarding experience that honors your trust.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
