Tracie is a compassionate, observant, thoughtful and a highly competent therapist. She helps you dig down to root causes, and offers caring and spot on observations. I feel very comfortable working with her, being open with her, and getting suggestions for areas to think about. I have worked with a number of therapists over my many years, and it sometimes takes a few sessions to get the relationship and therapy started. With Tracie, I felt like we have hit the ground running. We have been able to just dive in and get to work, something I very much appreciate.

Hi there! Are you ready to make healthy changes in your life, but you're not quite sure what that looks like and are looking for support and guidance? Are you wanting to heal from the death of a loved one or beloved animal? Are you having questions about your career/current profession and need some guidance? Are you a Highly Sensitive Person? (HSP) or a Creative?
Please reach out if you are a fellow therapist, writer/artist/musician, and/or teacher as I am familiar with and have experience in these worlds.
**Before you book a session, we will need to message to make sure we are a good fit and I can offer the support you need. Any sessions before messaging may be canceled.**
If you are coming to counseling specifically to work on trauma, I encourage you to look for a counselor with a specialty in trauma.
Finding the right fit with a counselor is an important decision. As you scroll through everyone, I want to acknowledge the fact you are taking this first step. My intention is to create an environment that is non-judgmental because it takes courage to move beyond your comfort zone. Counseling can be difficult at times, but it is an important investment in yourself.
I offer sessions primarily Monday-Wednesday afternoons, with occasional Thursdays to permanent North Carolina residents.
My given name is Theresa, but I've always been called Tracie. My experience includes helping people process grief, loss, anxiety, and moving through life's transitions and believe in being supportive, curious, compassionate, with a good sense of humor. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina, as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor, I use an eclectic approach of Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Psychodynamic, ACT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative, and Humanistic (client-centered) theories, and am also Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed. I'm mindful that a full person comes to therapy, which also includes incorporating body awareness and a person's spiritual/humanistic/existential beliefs into the process. Thirteen years as a former community college psychology and sociology teacher helps bring an even greater understanding to our sessions.
I also facilitate the following classes on BetterHelp:
Healing Your Heart After Pet Loss
Nourishing the Creative Soul
The Highly Sensitive Person
I'll Do It Later: Understanding Procrastination
Discovering Your Authentic Self on Your Professional Journey
Exploring the Ups and Downs of Your Professional Journey to Find Meaning in Your Work
One of my unique specialties is in pet loss grief and as an author, I wrote my first novel, BURIED DEEP IN OUR HEARTS, to help people with their healing process.
Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to connect to see how I can help you on your Life's journey.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
