More about Lauren

  • 3 years' experience

I am a provisional Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my Masters in Social Work from East Carolina University in 2009. I have been providing support to children, adolescences, adults with disabilities, and their families since 2003. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, trauma, Mood Disorders, and ADHD. I also have helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

It’s an honor to be able to come along side others during their journey. I am passionate about helping women, parents raising adolescents and/or foster children, and young adults. It has also been a pleasure supporting foster parents as they learn various behavioral management techniques to best support a child demonstrating challenging behaviors. My counseling style is a strengths-based approach and I use a collaborative problem solving approach to help tackle life’s challenges. But I have learned along the way there is nothing to big for God to help us through. He has taught me I can trust in Him and His plans are greater than my plans.(Jeremiah 28:11, Romans 8:28-29)

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions. Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Lauren is wonderful. She is practical in her advice and guidance. She helps me reframe my thoughts or plans so they are productive; she will allow me to revisit things until I have a strong grasp of how I can apply these tools. I have always left a session knowing I can apply something in my life often that day.

Lauren has been incredibly helpful and compassionate. When I began my therapy journey, I was looking for someone who was able to listen and help me parse out my thoughts and understand them, and Lauren has done that and more. With her help, I have been able to understand my own thoughts better, and shift perspectives from an anxious and troubled, to understanding where all of those feelings come from and what I can do about it. Lauren has always listened compassionately and created a space where I feel comfortable and confident. I cannot recommend her enough!

Lauren has become a real jewel in my life. I can't even begin to express how grateful I am for her. She is patient, understanding, and somehow able to sort through my jumbled thoughts and help me find clarity and direction. She doesn't avoid the hard things, but she takes careful consideration to how ready I am to address them. She knows how to gently push me when I need it and when it's best revisit a subject later on. She makes it easy to open up little by little. She is always respectful and doesn't rush me. She's handles my case perfectly. I'm so excited my the progress I've made since working with her.
