I came to Marcia after over a year in quarantine and very little trust in myself and those around me. I had worked with a much more expensive therapist for eight months prior with very little success. Marcia listened to me very thoughtfully and without judgement. She understood why I was there and, though a few of my issues were among the more obscure of mental illnesses, she was quick to give me options for comprehensive plans and treatment and prescribed useful techniques to cope and heal that I will be using for many years. Thank you Marcia, I can now confidently move forward in my life knowing I have what it takes to get through it all :)

More about Marcia

  • 3 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW, LISW-CP

I am a clinical social worker licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and California. I have 37 years of mental health experience working with adults and children. I have worked with clients with a wide range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

I believe in working from a holistic/ empowering approach, tending to the mind, body and spirit of the individual and family. The strategies, and skills that I use most in my work are from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and integrative medicine for mental health. I also use other methods to fit the needs and of the individual/ family. I honor and attend to social and cultural issues such as discrimination, racial and gender bias and multi-generational post traumatic stress.

I am passionate about assisting others to achieve more peace and fulfillment in their lives.

I look forward to meeting you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
