Every life story is filled with all kinds of moments—those of success and laughter and those of struggles and loss. In those moments when you are hurt, angry, lonely, scared or overwhelmed, it can be hard to know where to turn for direction. My passion in life is helping people to find the direction and support they need to move forward in those difficult times.

I am a licensed professional counselor in South Carolina. My educational background includes a BA from Purdue University in Individual and Family Development and a MA in Clinical Counseling from Columbia International University. I have worked as an Multisystemic (MST) therapist for HIV+ teenagers, a School based Mental Health Counselor, and as a Military and Family Life Counselor.

I have been helping individuals, families, and children to become aware of their inner strengths, and then, use those strengths to bring change to their current situation for over 13 years. Since every person’s story is unique, I use a variety of counseling techniques, including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Brief Solution Focused Therapy.

It takes courage to ask for help and seek change. If you are ready, I am here to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in life.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Mary is so wonderful. She is kind, helpful, and always insightful. She has been so great at giving the tools I need to process my past trauma and current concerns. I have Autism and it’s great to have someone who understands what I mean when talking and how I struggle with the way I see the world. I honestly look forward to our meetings all week. She is simply the best. I highly recommend her.

Mary is fantastic! Always so helpful in helping me achieve my therapy goals.

Reviewed November 2021

I didn't know where to begin at the time I started therapy with Mary. I knew I had taken the right steps but felt lost about whether to start with current situations, my past or previous sessions of therapy I've had throughout my life. Mary has been so understanding, unjudgemental and compassionate in helping me identify my own emotions, thoughts and just all around supportive with any goals I try to achieve in between sessions. She listens and offers ways to challenge me. Always does a check-in at the start and finish and if it's a challenging session, even a little later to make sure I'm okay. I love the "homework" because I do better with a deadline personally and she has really helped me feel good about myself and helped get me on a better path and out of my spiral. Through the laughs, tears and silence I feel Mary has helped me in many ways and I am greatful we were matched.
