I believe that my role is to create a safe and trusting environment where we can collaboratively explore life’s challenges, and achieve your personal goals. I do this by providing counseling that’s nonjudgmental and welcoming. Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or burdened? We all do sometimes! Come as you are, and be met compassionately where you are. I'm here to help with the heavy stuff, but also believe in the power of self-discovery and mental health maintenance. I'm committed to help you change unhelpful beliefs, build new skills, nurture your self-awareness, and process through anything keeping you from your desired well-being.

I am a licensed therapist (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in the state of Texas. I am trained and experienced in treatment modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. I earned a master’s degree in social work, clinical mental health from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. I have experience working with diverse populations in nonprofit, children’s advocacy center, primary care, private practice, and intensive outpatient mental health treatment settings. I also earned a bachelor of fine arts from the University of North Texas, and may integrate art-informed therapy into my practice when appropriate. I specialize in depression, anxiety, life changes/transitions, identity and self-image, self-esteem, stress management, young adult issues, trauma (sexual, verbal, physical, emotional), and PTSD. I also have experience in guilt and shame, grief and loss, and domestic violence recovery. I am available to you on weekdays (Monday to Friday) from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

I believe that the client is the expert in their own life -each person has the capacity to choose what is best for them, and to determine the level of influence that challenges have in their life. I'm here to be an empathetic ear, a calm and secure presence, an alternative perspective, and an open mind. Let’s discover your ideal life and optimal wellness together.

I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Julie is a wonderful and skilled therapist. I worked with her for 7 months and in that time I saw myself gain more confidence and an ability to set boundaries for and with myself that I had not been able to for so long. The structure that Julie and DBT brought to my life are invaluable. I am now regulating my nervous system using tools I learned from Julie that have a positive impact on my life (as oppose to some of my previous methods) and I am focused and working on my goals like I was back before my anxiety and nervous system deregulation took over. I would recommend Julie to anyone who wants to gain more confidence to stop their bully brain from taking over and learn to regulate the emotions that come up in life. Using DBT for me was essentially life changing, and Julie was a fantastic teacher! Julie is a calm presence who makes learning fun, simple and friendly. I have her to thank for so much. Thanks Julie!

Julie has done wonders for me mentally. Situational anxiety completely controlled my life to the point that I couldn’t watch tv/movies or go out in public without having an anxiety attack. While we have yet to finish our sessions (I recently had a baby and now am working to find a schedule that works for us to rejoin), her sessions made a world of difference. I have seen triggering imagery and used the tools I was given to make it through without panic. After 8 years of this easily triggered life-debilitating anxiety, I finally made a breakthrough, even if it was small. I cannot thank or recommend Julie enough!!!

Julie is the best therapist I’ve ever worked with. Right away she made me feel welcomed, important, and worthy. She accepted me exactly as I am where with every session and message. Julie is the first therapist I’ve worked with who is able to explain WHY things work/don’t work from a psychological and nonjudgmental stance, as well as HOW to actually incorporate the therapeutic process into your daily life. I won’t forget the knowledge and practices that I’ve learned while working with Julie.

Julie has a way of asking questions I don’t think to ask myself and it has helped me grow to be a more considerate person. She is patient and I feel safe confiding in her.

Julie is a great counselor. She really connects with her clients and she made me feel safe and comfortable throughout our sessions. I truly feel that I have grown significantly in my time working with her and that I am now better equipped to deal with challenging situations that come my way. She listens carefully and works hard to help her clients navigate difficult situations. I am incredibly appreciative of all of the help, support, and guidance, I have received from Julie.
