I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas with 9 years of experience working as a counselor. I have a passion for working with people and walking with them through their life experiences and to help them toward their identified goals.

I see counseling as a safe place to address the thoughts about ourselves and the world and to evaluate how these thoughts impact our emotions and behaviors. I utilize the counseling process to strengthen coping skills, thought-changing skills, as well as conflict resolution and communication skills.

I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing techniques. I also have experience in the areas of chemical dependency, relational issues, as well as trauma. I see the process of counseling as one that is relational and collaborative. It is through counseling that we get the opportunity to see how we view ourselves, relate with others, and respond to the challenges of life.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Laura Edmonds has really helped me improve my life and way of thinking. Before my sessions with her, I was drowning in my grief and depression. I viewed so many things in a negative light and felt like some of my past memories were haunting me. Laura helped me reshape my thinking and has helped me gain some much needed closure.

Talking with Laura every week and being able to talk through things I'm going through and have her guidance and thoughts connecting my life together and highlighting insights has been completely indespensable. I look forward to our sessions every week and it's great to catch up and talk about whatever is on my mind that day and what I've been struggling with. To have a completely judgement free safe space to talk about your deepest fears, things you may be scared to tell anyone else is so freeing and comforting. I cant be thankful enough to have found and made this great relationship with Laura.

Laura is a great therapist. I just wish we could of had more time together. Unfortunately I didn't have the money I needed to continue on with the therapy. Thank you Laura. Was my insurance being used? I really would like to find away to come back?

Reviewed May 2021

Laura has helped me so much in just three short weeks. I had been having massive anxiety on a specific subject that just wouldn't go away and someone she helped me get rid of it completely. She is kind, understanding, and knows just what to say and ask.
