Hi. I believe that quality counseling depends on a quality relationship between therapist and client. A quality relationship is one defined by trust, warmth, empathy - and even a bit of laughter now and then. I believe it is in the context of a good working relationship that change and growth best occur. While I maintain a high level of professionalism, a good working relationship can also feel like letting your hair down with a good friend over coffee.
I have 9 years of experience as a group and individual counselor, supervisor and graduate level instructor in trauma counseling. I utilize motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral and positive/strengths-based counseling to help clients make positive meaning of their lives. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I have worked with a wide variety of presenting concerns, and have a strong background working with depression, anxiety, career and life changes, conflict and trauma.
I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Overall rating:
Shannon was a very good therapist for me. She helped me navigate obstacles through my life
Shannon is a wonderful therapist, she has been there for me through all my ups and downs and tries to help me navigate through life.
Shannon is brilliant. Her ability to decipher my experience into workable action is priceless. If my feelings were rough seas, she's the captain I'd want behind the wheel of my ship. And lucky me, she is!
Great experience so far
Shannon has been very tentative as a counsellor and is helping with my issues. Asks questions that I never think of. I highly recommend Shannon and BetterHelp. Especially if you have social anxiety and cannot leave your home or feel uncomfortable to do so.
