Loved how calm and understanding Dr Keene was other than when vaccination got brought up. We seemed to have different opinions on the matter and those opinions were made know by both parties.

More about (Cynthia)

  • 12 years' experience
  • Female
  • Psychologist

I am a licensed psychologist. That is, I have a PhD in Counseling Psychology with 10 years of postdoctoral experience. I initially worked on an acute psychiatric inpatient unit with people with severe mental disorders. More recently, I worked with veterans and active duty military with PTSD from wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Viet Nam, among other military assignments, as well as military sexual trauma.

I have a long history working in mental health, starting out as a hospital social worker with a master's degree, then returning to school for my PhD in psychology.

I trained and became certified in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I tend to use cognitive behavioral methods, but first like to listen to a client talk about their problems, then work with them to determine the best treatment approach based on their needs and comfort level.

I believe that traumatic experiences resulting in PTSD often leads to anxiety, substance abuse, withdrawal, isolation and depression in a vicious cycle. Treatment can effectively change that process. I returned to work after retirement to help people with mental health issues related to COVID and it's impact on our lives. I am especially interested in working with health care providers who dealt with exhaustion, anxiety, and fear caring for patients with COVID.
