More about Tameka

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the state of Alabama with over 7 years of experience providing individual, family and group therapy. My approach is mindfulness, which allows you to be in the moment and aware of the positive surrounding you. Sometimes that positive is that you took a deep breath today and that is okay. The goal is to help you on your journey to self-love, self-care, positive coping and safely driving toward your goals. We can go as fast or slow as you want. You are the expert on your goals, achievements, strengths, capabilities and life experience. I am merely here to provide you with a safe space that is non-judgmental.

As a therapist, I promote positive communication and healthy boundaries. Sometimes in teaching others how to respect and care you, there is a light bulb indicating that respecting and caring for yourself are just as important. I use warmth, humor, laughter and zone in on those moments. Sometimes experiencing a moment with all 5 senses highlights that moment of success. I encourage you to be open and remind you that this is your safe space to talk about how you felt, are feeling, want to feel and learning where this vision will take you on your journey. I would be honored to help you on your journey to self-improvement, change, increase and greatness that you deserve to experience with all five senses and every emotion. I invite you to a safe space where you will be heard and acknowledged.

I earned my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Alabama In Tuscaloosa in 2006. I also have a Bachelor’s in Social Work from The University of Alabama. I have provided individual and group therapy to children and adolescents. Tameka is professional, yet personal. She does not tell me what I want to hear, she is honest, and she has made me reevaluate so much. It is nice to feel heard and the weight I’ve carried around so long is eased even in our short time of correspondence because of her and her insight.

She's really kind and helpful even with the little stuff

Reviewed August 2020

Tameka has listened to what I have going on in my daily life and given me useful advice on how to take better care of myself instead of putting others and my job first, which has often been a struggle for me. We haven't even dug into deep issues that are at the root of my depression and anxiety, but I have already felt a sense of relief just having a neutral person to talk to every day.
