Hi There. Nice to meet you.

My name is Tammy Porter and I am an independently Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Arizona. I have 17 years of community mental health experience, 9 of which includes providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy. I have had the privilege of learning from and working with a diverse range of populations, from the underserved to commercially insured individuals. I have supported people in addressing concerns related to depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, chronic pain, substance use, relationship difficulties, and family discord. My professional goal is to ultimately help people help themselves.

I have been educated and trained in systems theory, viewing individuals as a part of and connected to their larger surroundings. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, strengths based, and trauma informed. I see the best in people and believe that you are the expert of yourself. Other approaches I draw from include; cognitive-behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, schema therapy, Adlerian therapy, and DBT.

Individuals I have worked with have described me as; non-judgmental, empathic, warm, and supportive.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
