Hi, my name is Alison. If you're here, that means you're looking for something, and I'd love to help. Congratulations on taking a huge step in thinking about asking for support. Over the years, I've helped lots of people at many different stages of their life work to have more control, more safety and more stability. Whether you are dealing with something new, a long term challenge, or if you just know something's not right and you can't put a finger on it, we should talk.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from California and my work with individuals and couples has been to support people in cultivating tools to improve how they manage the challenges they are facing. I'm an experienced therapist who has worked with diverse individuals around issues of trauma, depression, grief & loss, anxiety, substance abuse and interpersonal difficulties. My work with individuals is centered around the goals we develop together to improve their relationships, coping skills and emotional experiences. I approach the work with an open mind, an open heart and without judgement. You are the expert in your experience and I am here to help you identify where we can focus your energy to maximize your use of therapy. Together, we can use my clinical experience and training to personalize interventions that make the most sense for your individual goals.

You should know that I attended San Francisco State University for my bachelors in Social Work (2005) as well as my for Masters in Social Work (2007) which provided a strong foundation in the value of Social Justice which is integrated into all my clinical work. My approach to this work is also guided by the ethical guidelines of the National Association of Social Workers and promotes self-determination, respect for others and the importance of human relationships. Since my work is based in these principles, if we work together, I promise you will feel seen, you will feel safe and you will feel better. Thank you for reading, I look forward to hearing from you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I had Allison for couples consoling and I really loved her method of working and challenging me. I sought her at a few years later for solo sessions and would seek her out again if necessary. She friendly and relates to my age group.

Alison is simply a great therapist and councellor. She listens with an empathetic ear, helps me see thing clearly, and better understand myself. Her advice is always good and the coping mechanisms she recomends are very helpful.

She was the best thing that ever happened to me. She helped me for 2 years, because therapy is a long process, but she helped me learn so much about myself

Alison Murphy has changed my life for the better. As I've tried to give her my full attention with my struggles, concerns, questions, she has always given my more than her full attention. She is very intelligent, knowledgable, about her work, and is very carrying about her clients. I would recommend her to anyone in any situation in their lives who are seeking help. She has been the best counselor I've ever had! I would say she deserves a big raise for all her efforts :)

Alison is incredible. I feel so blessed to have found her as my therapist. After having cycled through a few therapists, I thought I knew what good was, but she has redefined that definition entirely. She’s results oriented and wants to provide me with solutions and tools, rather than just talking about things just to talk about them. I would highly recommend Alison to anyone. She’s compassionate and non-judgemental and meets me where I’m at. I feel like she’s a trusted friend and confidante who is helping me create the life I want to be living.
