More about Sheila

  • 6 years' experience
  • Female
  • LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist offering a unique combination of professional skills, education, and knowledge, which include, mediation and small business owner/consultant. I embrace this profession with a wealth of life experiences that include over 30 years in social services. As a change agent, I create and maintain a trusting and safe space where individuals can explore a new way of being and existing. We don’t get to choose our family of origin, but we do get to choose how we are going to be in our many interactions with others. The investments we make in our self are reflected in our daily life. Our beliefs, perceptions, and feelings guide us as we live day to day. Allowing individuals to create their own truth through exploration and empowerment can bring understanding and hope as they encounter a new way of living. I believe change and healing occurs as a result of a collaborative and relational experience.

My role is to support my clients through the therapeutic process and help them discover a resolution to conflict/or pain, whether it occurs on the inside with one’s thoughts and feelings or on the outside between two or more individuals. I bring a curious mind, and an open heart as we make the journey together to a better life.

Congratulations on wanting to improve yours…

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Sheila is the first therapist I feel comfortable with. I always feel heard and she always has time for me.

Reviewed February 2021

Opening up to therapists has always been hard for me. I usually am timid to share details and how I'm really feeling. Even with that Sheila could point out my feelings that was experiencing. She is an extremely wonderful woman who is so open. She is intuitive, and in the moment tells you the right words you need to hear. After every session she always makes sure I know that she is there. On top of that she lets me know I can contact her to schedule a session if I don't see a time that works for me. You can tell she truly cares about the people she works with! Wonderful woman, wonderful heart and soul. Truly appreciate her.
