Hello, I am Ajila pronounced (Ah-Ji-Lay) I have a Master's degree in Social Work and have attained my License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) . I have been doing therapy for 18 years. My primary focus is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). With CBT I tend to provide homework because, therapy isn't for the me to fix things, but for me to provide you with the tools that can be applied for you to succeed. Homework also helps between sessions by practicing the tool on issues we discussed during the session. I approach each individual with respect and openness to listening to their story in order to identify goals and strategies that will address concerns. My experience has been working with adults, homeless, veterans and geriatric individuals. I am looking forward to working with you.

Ajila has helped me immensely. She kept working with me to find the tools that I needed to be able to manage problems that I have been struggling to deal with for years now and I have not felt this good in a LONG time. For me, working with Ajila feels like meeting with a wise, funny, caring friend. I’ve been working with her on issues with various boundaries, both interpersonal and work/life. She quickly armed me with some tools that shifted my thinking in a more positive direction, and those simple changes have been surprisingly helpful. Ajila is both confident and persistent about nudging me in the right direction, and the way she does it feels very forgiving. When I have trouble changing my behavior, I can chalk up small victories and keep going instead of feeling like I’ll never figure it out. I also appreciate her sense of humor and willingness to share some of her own experience. Overall I find our sessions very valuable, and if anything I wish I’d started sooner.

This is the first time that I've ever sought out therapy and it was certainly one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. Ajila has been a godsend and incredible help in my overcoming depression/overwhelm. In just one month, the tools that she has provided me has helped me with mental clarity, focus, and ability to take on more in my life. I was able to restart rigorous interview processes that I was far too burned out to tackle. The homework / exercises that she recommends are incredible in achieving clarity on goals that I would like to achieve in the future, and to teach me how to manage stress. Now that I'm able to take on more, Ajila is helping me with personal relationships and developing communication skills. She's helped me be at peace with a lot of the negative things (these are just challenges that occur throughout life), and to restore my optimistic personality. A lot of the tools that she's recommended and provided are invaluable and will be in my toolkit for the rest of my life. I highly recommend Ajila Harris as a therapist, as she has helped me immensely with my mental health.
