Sarah is the first therapist that has provided me with actionable and noticeable help. I'm extremely grateful for her guidance, patience, and effectiveness.

Reviewed April 2024

Sarah is by far the most effective therapist I've ever worked with. She asks questions no therapist has asked me before, and I leave every one of our sessions with something to think about. I consistently throw at her issues found in the most convoluted, ingrained, and biased nooks of my brain, and she is not only able to follow me there, but explore the space with me, as well. I can confidently say that she is one of the sharpest and insightful people I have ever met, and her help is invaluable to me.

Welcome! My name is Sarah Garlick and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California. I have experience working with clients from many different backgrounds both in program settings and in private practice. I graduated from Boston University, with a Master's in Clinical Social Work in 1999.

I believe the first step to any successful therapy is creating a safe and supportive environment for the client. Within a trusting therapeutic relationship there is the opportunity for exploration and growth to occur. I strive to work collaboratively with my clients to overcome the barriers that keep them from having more fulfilling lives. I teach my clients concrete skills that they can use to deal with current issues, and challenges that may occur in the future. I provide compassionate solution-focused psychotherapy. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, but tailor my approach to best meet the needs of my clients. My areas and issues of special interest include:

- Insomnia - Anxiety - Parenting and Co-parenting - Building self confidence/self esteem

- Depression - Trauma recovery - Life transitions

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Sarah has helped me so much! She lets me share and then she encourages me to dig deeper. I feel empowered because of my time with Sarah.

Sarah Garlick is one of the best therapists I have ever had. She is highly empathetic, thoughtful, and listens and helps resolve what I am going through in each session, while giving me tools and thought exercises to work on until we meet next. She makes me feel like I am not "alone" in what I am going through and helps to level set the period of life I am in and helps me to recognize that I am not going through big changes alone, but that life shifts and changes and we grow with it. I am very thankful for her in this stage of life and highly recommend Sarah to anyone who wants to start/continue a journey in therapy
