More about Julie

  • 10 years' experience
  • Female
  • LMFT, LPCC

My name is Julie Johnson and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in San Diego, CA. I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and have over 10 years of experience in the counseling profession.

I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use issues and have extensive experience helping clients explore underlying core beliefs that impact their self-esteem and can effect many of their relationships. I am Nationally certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (commonly referred to as CBT), which is extremely effective for individuals who need to quickly learn skills and techniques to reduce symptoms related to depression and anxiety.

Along with CBT, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, always keeping in mind that every one of us is unique and all learn and cope very differently. I believe it is incredibly important to help my clients identify what works best for THEM and incorporate that into therapy. You are the only expert in your life and what works for someone else, might not work for you. I don’t have a magic wand (trust me, I wish I did… and I promise I’ll let you know if I ever find one). But what I do have is the ability to walk along side you and provide you with support as we work though whatever has brought you to therapy. You don’t have face those challenges you are struggling with alone.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
