- LMHC
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2013. I have a total of 15 years of counseling experience and have worked in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I have worked with a wide range of concerns including isolation/loneliness, self-love, life purpose, guilt and shame, self-harm, emptiness, chronic pain/illness, women’s issues, abandonment, workplace issues, and control issues.
My counseling style is warm-hearted and collaborative and I provide an atmosphere of empathy and non-judgment so that clients can make their own decisions and choices. My approach combines talk therapy and psychodynamic therapy to help you achieve a happier and more fulfilling life.
I can interact with you in whatever manner you are most comfortable. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better. But I am also available to you via phone and text if that is more comfortable for you. Much of my availability is during weekdays, but I check messages every evening, including weekends.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Wonderful counselor. I immediately felt comfortable with Melinda and I look forward to our sessions.
Melinda was easy to talk too and readily available upon my request. I have walked away with clear actions to support myself and also improve my relationship.
