Healing and recovery from childhood and other traumatic wounds is a process that is not for the faint of heart. It takes courage, commitment, and support. I know this firsthand. I committed to my own healing 20 years ago, and continue today doing the work to ensure I am living my life in alignment with my purpose and with Joy.

What to expect when working with me:

The foundation of my practice is meeting you where you are in this moment. You have enough outside pressures telling you who you should or should not be. Your time with me with be free of that, allowing you the space to discover who you are without the expectations of others being heaped onto your spirit. If you prefer a therapist that is directive, and advice giving, I am not that.

Because I have been around the block a few times both as a therapist and a client, my style is a kaleidoscope of modalities. I embrace the work of Carl Jung, supporting you to fully integrating all parts of yourself. There are no “good” or “bad” characteristics in our personalities. In practicing radical acceptance of all parts of ourselves, we are empowered to make conscious choices about how to respond (rather than react) to life’s struggles.

Sometimes we say we want to make changes in our lives and yet our actions work against the very change we say we want to make. I utilize Motivational Interviewing to support you in increasing your own awareness of any ambivalence you may be feeling about making changes in your life which can lead to clarity on the “whys” of change, which leads to increased motivation to carry out the change.

Care-frontation is a word I read somewhere years ago, and resonates with my approach in working with people. One of the masters with whom I have studied once told me that my own history of trauma gives me “X-Ray vision into the souls of others.” So, if there are times that I sense your thoughts and words are working against you, I will provide a care-frontation. My definition of a care-frontation is a confrontation from a place of Love. These care-frontations are gentle, and curious. Rather than harsh and judgmental. They can be my way of calling you UP to your higher self. My experience is they are almost always a gentle nudge to an “Ah-ha” moment.

Also in my therapy toolbox are: breath-work, mindfulness, Cognitive behavioral therapy, recognizing where your pain sits in your body and utilizing movement to create shifts, investigating how your dreams can inform your waking life.

Finally, therapy is an active process on both of our parts. I am not capable of fixing things for you. I will call you to dig deep and work hard at discovering your path to peace and joy. I will be right with you in your process. If you are ready to do the work, let's jump in!
