More about Margarete

  • 18 years' experience

  • LMHC

I'm Maggie (she/her) and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Florida with 20 years of experience in the field, including 15 years of direct counseling experience. I have worked with a range of clients throughout my career including those that have experienced trauma and abuse, self-esteem and weight-related body image issues, depression, anxiety, dissatisfaction with their career, as well as interpersonal issues. I have also worked in multiple settings including community based care and private practice.

My approach to counseling is supportive and I believe in a genuine client-therapist relationship regardless of the treatment modality. I use primarily solution-focused therapeutic techniques, however I tailor each session to the needs of my client. As such, I draw from cognitive behavior therapy, person-centered therapy, expressive therapies such as art and music therapy. I also use complementary therapies like aromatherapy and meditation in my counseling practice.

My session availability is early weekday mornings Monday-Wednesday evenings. I am willing to accommodate sessions outside those times for urgent situations.

Making changes in your life takes courage; I commend you on reaching out and starting the process. I am committed to encourage and support you in your desire to make those changes and build a more positive future. I am here when you are ready.

I look forward to working with you.

Be well.

Maggie

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I’ve been with Maggie for over two years now. Her style of therapy has helped me immensely with leaning relationship skills, coping skills, navigating life changes, my general Covid anxiety and building self confidence. I’m so glad i get to navigate life with her on my side!

Of all the therapists I've had throughout my life, I'd say Maggie has been the most effective (and it's only been a couple months)! She strikes the perfect balance of holding space for me to fully express myself, and then using a very solutions-based approach in each session. I like how she's able to really hone in on a specific issue within the context of my individual needs, rather than resorting to pre-made CBT worksheets. I'd strongly recommend Maggie to any one of my friends or family members!

She is the consumate professional. She gives you hope in the most troubling of times. I cherish her advice and is the reason for my positive outlook.

Maggie is amazing, my salvation! Such a Great listener and communicator.. somehow she is able to help me “herd” my thoughts, make them coherent and get to root of the issue, and gives spot on advice . Very accessible, supplies outside resources (worksheets, techniques). She has helped me come so far, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone.

I’m coming up on a year of working with Maggie and I just love her. She is always exactly what I need, whether it’s advice, support, or tough love. I recommend BetterHelp to everyone!

This is my first time in counseling and Maggie is wonderful! She is helping me put some of my feelings into words and establishing what I may be dealing with so far. I'm discovering things I didn't realize and starting the long healing/self help process and in the first two sessions, it's been great. She is understanding and approachable. She has made everything to be, really like just conversing so far. Doesn't feel like I'm under the microscope or in a doctor's office, just feels like someone talking with me about how I feel and what I can, need to, or want to work on.

She has real concern and finds ways for someone to find it in themself to solve their issues. She gives you options then explains each one. She makes you feel comfortable and shows a great sense of professionalism. She focuses on the issues and doesn't move on until you have a understanding of your problem . Honesty is such a comfort zone and she builds a trust that is genuine. I have already recommended someone to her because I know she can really help that person.

Margarete has been great! She is very respectful and I can tell she is really listening to me. She has made my first introduction to therapy a great one!

Reviewed May 2020

I truly wasn't expecting anything positive to come from trying therapy again, especially in this type of non traditional setting, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I've only been working with Maggie for a few weeks, but she has definitely been there for me, and kind of ignited that fire inside me for personal growth. She doesn't judge me and is always very supportive. She also doesn't judge me or cause me to feel ashamed about my feelings or situations I am facing. She just helps me realize that maybe some of my thoughts or actions aren't the most effective or healthy and guides me in the direction that I didn't even think about or consider. I'm very impressed and I am so glad that I stumbled upon this opportunity for help with making myself a better person.

Reviewed May 2020

I've appreciated working with Margarete. She's knowledgeable and shares many resources with me. She knows how to prompt the conversation well to have a productive session.

Reviewed May 2020

Maggie is great. Starting this process was exciting and anxiety provoking but from the start Maggie made me comfortable enough to shed some of my stresses. She also has been providing me with great tools to ease some of my daily stresses. Maggie understand when I need feedback and she also understands when I just need to let it out. 1000% RECOMMENDED
