More about Catherine

  • 12 years' experience

  • LMHC

I am a mental health counselor licensed in Florida with over 15 years of experience working in the mental health field. My experience has allowed me to work with clients with a wide range of concerns and diagnoses, including adjustment disorders, mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, relationship and family issues, drug and alcohol/co-occurring disorders, personality disorders, and severe, persistent mental illness. I specialize in behavior therapies, working extensively in symptom and behavior management, stress management, self esteem/confidence, decision making, and difficulty with coping skills.

My counseling style is collaborative and honest. I tend to work from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, helping you to explore and identify the thoughts, behaviors, and patterns that are causing dysfunction and helping you develop healthier ways of navigating life's challenges. I believe that every person has the ability to change the patterns and behaviors leading to negativity in their life. I also believe that every person can live a fulfilling life, even having mental health issues and past or current struggles. My goal is to provide an atmosphere where you feel supported, heard, and empowered. You are in charge of your counseling, and I will help you find solutions to the problems holding you back.

In addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I utilize techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy, solution focused therapy, and goal oriented therapy. I have attended advanced training in CBT and DBT, as well as have specialized education in marriage and family therapy.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
