“Mental strength is not the ability to stay out of the darkness; it’s the ability to sit present in the darkness knowing that the light will shine again.” ~Anonymous

Welcome!

If you find yourself in a tough spot right now, know that it will pass and you are not alone. I may be able to assist with your journey and I will be your guide until you find the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for not giving up and for reaching out and trusting that there is a process to help and to heal. Here is a little about me and how I plan to support you.

My name is Jeanette Kunselman-Issa, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Certified Master’s Level Addictions Professional (MCAP certification). I have a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Florida School of Professional Psychology in Tampa, FL and have been working in the mental health field since 2004. I primarily work with adults who experience substance abuse, trauma, depression, and anxiety, among other mental health issues.

Clinically, I utilize a solution-focused approach in the therapy setting, with the belief that every person already has the answers to their questions, but that some individuals merely need some guidance on locating the hidden answers. Socratic questioning is a technique that I use to challenge clients’ typical ways of thinking and get them past the obstacles that lie between where they are and where they want to be. Additionally, I use a cognitive-behavioral therapy approach, which helps clients recognize the relationships between their thoughts and how they can typically contribute to the way they feel and behave. With successfully identifying and changing these thought processes, an individual can notice an improvement in their mood and behaviors.

I look forward to beginning a new working alliance as you begin your journey toward becoming a happier, healthier you.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions. Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
