More about Vanessa

  • 14 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

I have been providing counseling in various settings for over 20 years, with 14 years as a licensed professional. I am a counselor who provides services in the state of GA and Utah. I hold a Doctorate of Theology in Christian Counseling and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have worked closely with Veterans, people suffering from adjustment disorder, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, couples, empty nesters and other persons who are experiencing loss or grief or relationship problems.

My style of counseling includes cognitive behavioral therapy; helping you to improve your mental clarity by thinking and developing coping mechanisms to overcome the issues that are concerning to you. My approach utilizes motivational interviewing. I want to point out the incongruence in what you say versus what you do; so we can begin to realign your thoughts with your actions and behaviors.

Help in whatever area you are struggling with is just an email, click, text or phone call away. What are you waiting for; lets help you become your best self.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

I’ve had some negative experiences with therapists in the past, so starting over yet again was terrifying. Even though I haven’t been talking with Vanessa for long at all, I can tell that she is so compassionate and cares about her clients. I love knowing my counselor is Christian because that’s a huge part of my life. I feel a little more confident that I can finally heal this time, and I’m excited to see what this journey brings!

Reviewed April 2019

Vanessa is understanding and asks good questions that make me think in a different way. She relates as a fellow believer and not just a counselor. But she also offers her expertise which I really need at this time. I would recommend her to anyone wanting a wise Christian sister's perspective.

Vanessa is a true professional, but most importantly, she uses her spiritual heart/mind to help apply counseling strategies. She is warm, but keeps it VERY real, and is not afraid to ask tough questions to get you thinking and moving forward. I am thankful to have her as my therapist. We have more work to do, but I am ;looking forward to it.

Reviewed December 2019

I've been working with Vanessa for only a short while now but In our first conversation I was really clear and honest about what was going on for me so she has been able to help me with a few worksheets on establishing healthy boundaries for myself and shining a light on a little blind spot that I had. She's been checking in through messages and I appreciate that she's engaging, straightforward and honest with me. In the short amount of time working with her I have been able to already see areas of where and how I can shift my perspective on a couple of key issues.

Reviewed November 2019

I have only worked with Vanessa for a few sessions so far, and I can only say I wish I started sooner. I put off doing counseling for a long time because I was anxious about being judged and felt unable to afford it, but I am so glad I have now decided to prioritize it. Vanessa is incredibly intuitive and understanding and has been able to help me understand myself much better. She is helping me to work through deep-seated issues and grow from this counseling. I would highly recommend Vanessa and BetterHelp.

Reviewed November 2019

Vanessa is very professional and empathetic, and very succinct and helpful with solutions on how to cope with day to day struggles.

Reviewed November 2019

Vanessa listens to me with complete focus and analyzes all the information I give her to give me very practical and realistic support and suggestions. She has significantly improved my life through her experience and knowledge in a very short time. She’s been great at helping me deal with my disability issues, family issues, relationship as well as career. She’s got everything covered so I feel less worried and feel safe that I have a plan to keep all these things in check. I don’t feel alone.

Reviewed September 2019

Vanessa has been great! It's so good to have another perspective on our relationship and the reasons we think and behave like we do. Have found it very helpful to have her support.
