Hello and welcome! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and I have been providing individual, family, couples, and relationship counseling for teens, college students, and adults for nearly 10 years. My clinical experience includes 3 years in a non-profit, community based, intensive outpatient program working with adults diagnosed with severe and persistent mental health disorders and co-occurring substance use disorders. Over the next 5 years of my career my training and experience expanded to include work in college mental health, disability services, and private practice working with individuals, couples, and families.
My training and education include a BA in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Wyoming and a Masters of Education in Counseling with a dual emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Stephens College in Missouri. I am a first generation college student and graduated as part of the McNair Scholarship program. I was initially trained as a researcher with dreams of completing my doctorate in social psychology. However, the needs of my family along with some other life circumstances influenced me to pursue a different path in the helping field and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Having said all that, the first thing that I want to dispel in our work together is the myth that I, as the counselor, am somehow better at this whole "life" thing than you or anyone else. I am most certainly not! My journey has been filled with as many mistakes and setbacks as it has with successes. Additionally, my background as a first generation, low income college student has helped me understand what it's like to have to work harder than others just to achieve the same results. Perhaps more importantly, the importance of intersectional identity has also given me some insight into the fact that others likely face obstacles that I have never experienced and may never fully be able to comprehend. This understanding informs my culturally sensitive approach which I bring with me to our sessions. Therefore, what you can expect from me is a culturally sensitive counselor who honors and values the background and unique perspectives that you bring. I offer a judgement free space where all ideas, thoughts, feelings, and beliefs are welcome where we work collaboratively to identify your unique goals and obstacles. We then tailor strategies to help you overcome those obstacles by using your unique strengths and supports.
To help us accomplish this, I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT), both grounded in attachment theory and social constructionism. For relationship and family counseling, I use approaches grounded in CBT, family systems, and Gottman method theory. All of my work integrates evidence based practices like CBT and MBCT, along with more postmodern approaches like feminist therapy and narrative therapy. Although I am here as your counselor, you know you, your relationship, and/or your family way better than I could ever hope to. As such, our work together is that of equals working toward the common goals that we determine together. I most certainly have answers and opinions that make sense for me but my answers may not be the same answers that make sense or work for you. Therefore, my role is not to give you my answers, it is to help you find the answers that best work for you.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
