Evonne is probably the best therapist I have had in the last 20 years. She summarised / assessed all the disjointed "mumbo jumbo" I explained to her in our first session so succinctly that I felt she just "got me", as is. She has a calm, accepting demeanour about her that is reassuring and reduces my anxiety. She is patient and encouraging and helps me look at different perspectives when I struggle and can't express myself well. Two thumbs up / Five out of five stars.

More about Evonne

  • 6 years' experience
  • Female
  • LPC

I am licensed in Georgia as a licensed (clinical) professional counselor, and I have been in practice since 2014 when I graduated from Argosy University, Atlanta, with a Masters in Community Counseling. I have worked in residential treatment centers, for an outpatient mental health clinic, private practice, as well as with military families in school settings.

My primary therapeutic approach is person centered, and I enjoy helping adolescents and adults live happier, healthier lives, by improving their mental health and education. In my experience, I have worked with those who suffer from or have concerns including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, communication, critical thinking, and other behavioral issues. My approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma focused-cognitive behavioral therapy, and experiential therapy, to name a few. Based on the initial session, treatment will be tailored to the needs of each individual. I welcome the opportunity to improve day to day functionality.

Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy playing basketball. I also enjoy cooking, spending time with my husband and dog, and traveling to new places.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I am so happy I was matched with Evonne as my counsellor. She was so helpful especially in a time that I needed it most. Evonne is extremely easy to talk to and I found myself opening up a lot more than I typically do. When I first started my counselling sessions, she knew exactly which questions to ask. After learning more about me she was able to give me great tools that were simple to use and very effective. When explaining theories and exercises, Evonne always gave great examples to help me better understand the concept. I would recommend Evonne to anyone who may struggle with anxiety or just needs someone to talk to. Overall, Evonne is amazing and I am so appreciative of her.

Evonne is a great counsellor! She is really good at listening and commiserating but also questioning your thoughts and feelings to change your perspective positively. She also has great solutions and tools to help, and I’ve already noticed a difference after a couple months with her.
