Hello and welcome to my profile. Are you dealing with a situation that looks and feels overwhelming right now? When we are close to things, they look bigger, that is true for objects and for situations. It is my job to help you see your issue from another perspective. Most often that simple shift in how we look at things can make you feel better.

I am Dr. Chanda Pilgrim and I have been a psychologist for over 25 years working in schools, private agencies, and a community mental health agency. I have worked with individuals and families who are dealing with everything from relationship issues to schizophrenia. I am a holistic counselor which means that when someone tells me they are depressed, not only am I trying to find out the triggers, but I also want to know about diet, exercise, and sleep. I do not see a separation between mind/body/spirit, so we will explore how they affect one another. Most of my clients say I feel like an old friend or family. That connection is important to me because who wants to talk about those private things with someone who doesn’t “get them?”

My theoretical orientation is Cognitively based which means that I believe that our thoughts create our feelings. An event that occurs is just an event until we put meaning on it. It is those meanings that create worry, sadness, and even bring about trauma. In our work together, you can expect that we will do some talking about your history. I will assign homework to help you to look deeper into things while we are apart. We will talk about things you can do to support your growth (diet, exercise, etc.) We may even do guided meditations that are aimed at reprograming those automatic unwanted reactions to events in your life. It is my intention that from working with me your life will feel better.

Thank you for trusting me!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Dr. Pilgrim is amazing! I never really thought therapy would help me and if I ended up with anyone else there’s a chance I would’ve continued believing that, but I always walk away from my sessions with Dr. Pilgrim feeling so much lighter and relaxed. She’s so easy to talk to and has such a calming demeanor. She doesn’t make you feel like there’s something wrong with you. It feels like more of a friendship and casual conversation, while of course still helping you get through whatever you may be going through.

Dr. Pilgrim is absolutely fantastic! I was going through a very difficult time in my life, and she has been an answered prayer! I really can't imagine having a better fit in a therapist. She's empathetic, knowledgeable, and kind, and she provides just the right amount of "push" you need in a therapist.

BY FAR the best therapist I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a LOT!) Dr Pilgrim is clearly well versed in therapy & is so eager to jump in and help. Her therapy is very different from any structural therapist I’ve been with before - she’s super creative & thinks outside the box to find ways that work best for me. Can’t recommend her more highly!!!

Dr. Pilgrim is extremely kind, calm, reassuring, and resourceful. She has help ground me and taught me how to ground myself so I can keep moving forward beyond our conversations. She has been able to figure out what kind of practices and worksheets work best for me and did so very quickly. Accepting you need help can be very hard, but Dr. Pilgrim has relieved all my fear and makes me excited to put in the work, even for the really hard bits.
