I tend to roam and wander in my thoughts and texts, but Karyl focuses me back on task. It's the discipline I don't have and I am very happy I reached out for help; I don't think I could have made it to where I feel so much better without her help.

Hello!

My name is Karyl, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia. I recognize the courage it takes to reach out for help with personal matters. It would be my privilege to walk with you as you navigate through life's challenges.

I have experience working with adults struggling with various issues such as depression, anxiety, obsessions/compulsions, post-traumatic stress, substance abuse, mania, hoarding, and dissociation related to traumatic events. I have worked with people of various backgrounds, sexual orientations, genders, religions, and cultures. I care about what is difficult in your life and want to help with finding relief.

My counseling style is warm, attentive and non-judgmental. I work from a psychodynamic perspective which means I understand how past and current stressors can affect responses to stressful situations. I also utilize cognitive therapy which is a way to discover how thoughts affect feelings and behaviors. I have experience working with those struggling with past trauma and abuse and am trauma informed in my counseling.

I would love working with you and look forward to meeting you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Karyl has been my therapist for a little over a year now. In that time, I have blossomed greatly. I was deeply depressed, about as far in as someone with a job outside the home can be. While it's not all sunshine and rainbows now, it definitely is a hell of a lot brighter than I would have gotten on my own without her help. She helped me see some of my tics that I wasn't even aware I had- and all without judgement. She truly is the best therapist I have had.

Reviewed April 2022

Karyl has been my counselor for just under a year, and I feel like my mental and emotional health has improved over that time. I had tried counseling before, but I never really felt entirely comfortable, but Karyl did a great job of making me feel more comfortable, and I feel like I was able to express myself fully with her. I would definitely recommend her to a friend.
