More about Jan

  • 13 years' experience

  • LPC

My name is Jan Abbott. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a certified professional counselor supervisor (CPCS) in the state of Georgia. I have been doing mental health therapy for over 13 years in the greater Atlanta area. I have been the clinical director at several mental health clinics for in house and community therapy agencies. I have also spearheaded and created whole health programs for medical doctors to ensure my clients are able to heal the mind, body, and spirit. For the last 6 years, I have been in private practice where I have worked with a plethora of clients from all walks of life, with great success. My ability to help clients, especially those who are resistant or unaware of what changes are needed in their lives has been a great success as well. I have a wealth of experience working with individuals, groups, couples, and families within a therapeutic framework, using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and many other modalities have aided in that success. I have a history of working in interdisciplinary teams, including doctors, lawyers, the courts, DFCS community case managers, psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and other community partners to meet the needs of a very diverse clientele. I have the uncanny ability to use an array of innovative plans, therapy styles, and resources to develop ideal solutions for many therapeutic, community, and systematic problems in order to empower my client base.

Dear Jan, thank you for your support and guidance. If I look back at a year ago, I don’t recognise myself. You helped me rediscover who I am and better myself. I am working towards improving myself and so glad you are alongside with me in this journey. I got this, thanking you!

Our sessions are very helpful and I’ll be more than happy if they can continue. However, living overseas in a vastly different time zone makes finding a convenient time to meet very, very difficult.

I would highly recommend Jan to anyone who is trying to better themselves, trying to work through past traumas and notice and overcome negative automatic thoughts we tell ourselves. I feel like Jan is leading me on a path of self discovery is the most kind, caring and compassionate way. I would recommend her to anyone!

Reviewed November 2021

Jan is always informative and helps me work out some difficult answers for my issues. I am glad I have her support in my self improvement journey.

Reviewed September 2021

Jan supports me without judgement while keeping me honest. She's not afraid to open up about her own experiences dealing with mental health issues, and makes it so much easier to really dig into all of the facets of my psyche that I've been terrified to admit to even some of my closest friends. She also sets you up with trustworthy resources to refer to on YouTube and other sites. This is great for those mental health internet rabbitholes because now I'm certain of the value of the info I'm getting. 10/10 person and therapist
