More about Steven

I became a Marriage and Family Therapist because I am curious about love, passion, joy and sorrow. I want to help people have deep and meaningful relationships with those who are most important to them. I hold a Master's in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I also hold a Master's in teaching Special Education. Before becoming a therapist I was a member of Screen Actors Guild and Actors Equity, having appeared in film, TV, and stage. I also produced many video biographies, running a video production company in NYC and Honolulu. The common theme to all my work is wanting to hear peoples' stories.

As part of my therapist training I worked at three residential treatment centers for people dealing with alcohol and/or substance abuse. Now about half of my practice is working with couples seeking to improve their primary relationships and/or their interactions with their children and/or extended families. I have been trained in using the Gottman Method in coup[les counseling.

I employ cognitive behavioral techniques, psychodynamic, attachment theory, solution-focused therapies and existential psychology. My practice is always client-centered. I highly encourage everyone to work towards the best life they can have because it is my belief that this is it!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
