More about Jerry

  • 35 years' experience

  • LCPC

I have a bachelor's degree in business administration and a minor in psychology and a masters degree in counseling psychology

and over 35 years of counseling and psychotherapy experience . I am licensed as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

and am a Certified Addictions Counselor (CADC). My work experience includes being the Clinical Director at a community mental health center and as the Executive Director of a behavioral health care center where I supervised many staff and student interns. My private practice work dates from 1988 and I partner in the practice with my wife, Melinda. My counseling approach is client-centered and non-judgmental and I strongly believe that it is a privilege to be able to know and to help the people I see. On a more technical level, I believe in

a cognitive-behavioral model as well as the need to understand previous experiences and conditionings and help them make sense of how these factors have influenced them. I have special training and expertise in treating depression and other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, addiction, and attention deficit disorders.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
