More about Patrice

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1990 with clients in the state of Texas. I have worked with clients experiencing a broad range of issues and concerns including trauma, PTDS, depression, anxiety, anger, relationship issues, parenting skills, self-care, and many other psychological issues.
There are 2 essential things to be mindful of when engaging in therapy. First, all negative behavior is the result of unhealed wounds we carry around with us, knowingly or unknowingly, from the past. Second, all anger issues serve to cover deep levels of pain or hurt, and that is because anger is not a primary emotion. Anger is a secondary emotion provoked by hurtful feelings.
I have helped many individuals who have experienced trauma (physical, mental, emotional and sexual) during childhood and adulthood. Using informed trauma therapy, clients learn to embrace the wound created by their trauma without having to relive any traumatic events.
Steps to the healing process include:
(1) examining the negative effects of trauma currently in one's life,
(2) processing the impact that trauma has had on one's growth and development,
(3) overcoming anxious thoughts and feelings of "not being enough,"
(4) accepting the "radical acceptance" of oneself and embracing the path to total healing,
(5) developing effective coping strategies including learning to self-soothe, regulate emotions, establish healthy self-esteem, and develop skills to communicate and manage conflict effectively.
My counseling style is best described as compassionate, accepting, fair, direct, straightforward, solutions-oriented, and motivated to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals. I see my role as the individual entrusted to help my clients face their fears and embrace radical acceptance of Self. My clients are ideally positioned to develop effective coping skills and facilitate the changes they want in their lives. Every session is about moving clients toward the goals they have established for their counseling experience.
It can be frightening to take the first steps to engage with a therapist you have never met. It may be helpful to understand that I am experienced and well versed in the process of healing and facilitating change. Again, it's important to remember that all negative thoughts and unhealthy behaviors are likely the result of a wound from the past that has not healed.
I will listen to your thoughts and feelings, clarify issues associated with those thoughts and feelings, and guide you through the process for healing your wounds and facilitating change. My goal is to help you and guide you.
You and I will work as a team and be in partnership regarding the direction of your counseling as well as specific goals for treatment.
I look forward to working with you! Please take the first step toward the process of healing and change! We can do this together!

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Patrice is an incredibly empathic person with a unique and powerful approach to therapy. Highly recommend her!
I just started my therapy with Patrice. Ive never been in Therapy before but i am very pleased with my progression this far and how Patrice is taking me step by step. She really seems to be a wonderful person and very knowledgeable in her field of expertise. Thank you so much Patrice for taking me on.
I am extremely happy about Patrice. She lays out a clear structure and is very transparent about how therapy will be approached. She is attentive and direct while staying respectful and gives practical homeworg well tailored to what is discussed in therapy. Extremely glad I finally found her after previous unhelpful therapy experiences!
Incredible therapist, would happily recommend her to anyone I know. She is so empathetic and compassionate and gives great advice!
Patrice is amazing, she is very understanding and shows genuine love and respect. I feel like I am talking to a trusted friend.
Patrice is a wonderful therapist. She has helped me understand myself better and to rewire my thinking whenever I feel myself sinking into a hole. I could not recommend a better therapist to help guide you through your journey of getting better. I'm so thankful for her.
She is outstanding I am so beyond blessed to have her in my life
Patrice is a therapist I’ve been searching for. Someone who doesn’t just see me as a patient, but as a human being. She takes the time to listen, and sympathize with what I am saying, before teaching me and giving me the tools necessary to cope and heal. She is my biggest supporter
I have had therapy over 3 years for a complex set of issues, and none of those therapists come close to Patrice's knowledge, expertise, care, compassion, strength and humour. After changing several therapists, I trusted Patrice immediately because I could see that she understood my issues. Most importantly, she gave me hope that healing is possible, and that I was always whole. After years of feeling like I was broken, this was a life-changing feeling. Patrice has navigated me safely through all the emotions that come up during the healing process, providing constant reassurance and hope that life is to live. I cannot recommend Patrice enough!
Patrice is great, it is like speaking to an old friend that is there to listen and support you. If you’re looking for someone that will make you feel empowered, she’s the perfect therapist for you.
Patrice is a wonderful councilor. I have enjoyed her from the start.
Patrice is the absolute best and a Godsend!
My counsellor understands my issues and cares very much about my emotional well being. Her analysis of the situation I present is excellent. Nothing shocks her, she is transparent and I trust her. Her kindness and support has helped me move forward in a short time, she instills in me a kind of confidence that I had lost and really needed to find for my survival alone. I would recommend her to my best friend.
I feel very safe with her and it feels like I can trust her advice. Something that’s very hard for me right now.
My first session was amazing. Being nervous about what to expect and she helped make it comfortable. To have someone to talk to about how and what your feeling and not feel like it’s a waste of time is amazing. It’s nice to feel made important
Absolutely lovely and makes my mind feel at rest when I talk to her. I had a fear of therapy because I felt like it was going to be uncomfortable… but with Patrice it’s like talking to a close friend. Someone that understands and listens but also knows how to help you help yourself. Can’t thank her enough.
Patrice is a good therapist, she listens to your needs and tries to figure specifically how to help you. She always knows what to say and is gentle and caring with her words.
Patrice was open, supportive and understanding of my needs and what I wished to work on during our sessions together. She let me take the lead during my healing process and provided the tools to help me along my journey.
Dr. Stevens is the first therapist I've had (after 4 others) that doesn't trivialize my issues.
Patrice is absolutely wonderful. A true professional with a big heart. She understood on a deeper level everything I told her about my situation and I am so grateful to have been matched with her.
