Hi. I am Dr. Karen Ferguson. Congratulations on taking the first step towards change in looking for a therapist who will match you and your needs. That can be a difficult choice and it is a move that signifies how strong you are!

I have been a Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor for many years. I have my doctorate in marriage and family therapy and have had the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages and/or their families who are coping with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, parenting, self-esteem, relationships, bi-polar, and abuse.

The therapy I provide is designed to meet your needs in a warm, caring, judgment-free environment. We would use a combination of family systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment therapy, existential therapy, or trauma therapy techniques. The combination of these approaches would depend on your unique needs.

During therapy we spend time exploring your concerns to understand what you are feeling and thinking, how your family and culture has become a part of you, and increasing understanding of your strengths and challenges and how these have affected and created the person you are today. Therapy is active as we use art, books, journaling, or other approaches to increase your insight into who you are and who you want to become.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Dr. Ferguson has been amazing. She is the best therapist I've had in 8 years and I feel that I've made real progress with her help. She is kind and has a calming and comfortable demeanor that is very conducive to a productive session. I appreciate everything she has done and I look forward to keep working with her.

Dr. Ferguson is an excellent therapist. She asks the right questions and gets me thinking. She also has a very pleasant personality and is easy to talk with. I trust her input.

Reviewed September 2021

Dr. Ferguson is a great doctor. I really feel she listens to me and how I’m feeling. We start and end our session with “how are you feeling” which I think is amazing because no one ever usually asks how are you feeling. She’s very nurturing and makes me feel understood. She helps me understand that my past and trauma are real and I’m not crazy to feel what I’m feeling about the situation we are talking about that day. I truly love all the advice she gives and always feel I can talk to her about anything. She’s a pure soul. ❤️
