More about Susan

  • 23 years' experience
  • Female
  • LPC

I am a retired Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maine no longer taking referrals. However I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan, maintaining a small caseload. I also hold credentials as a Music therapist, Board Certified and as a Fellow with the Association of Music and Imagery. I have been in private and agency practice for nearly 30 years.

I believe every human has the capacity to grow in personhood, to find joy in life, and make meaning for her or himself. I also believe for every individual there are a myriad of factors challenging the growth of personhood, joy and meaning making in their lives. Former and current clients, in my practice, who were seeking guidance, assistance, and compassionate listening have expressed a sense of being supported and development of greater insight.

My formal educational includes a BA in Music Education, MA Liberal Studies, PhD Arts in Human Development, CAS Counselor Education; MA in Music Therapy, Fellow - Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music, Mandala Assessment and Spiritual Direction training/credentialing. I hold credentials in the states of Maine and Michigan as LCPC, and LPC respectively. My continuing education also includes ACES training, Trauma-Informed Care & Counseling, Domestic Violence & Intimate Partner Violence counseling training and Clinical Supervision training. I have practiced in the mental health field since 1996.

In addition, I have extensive education and personal experience in Jungian studies including lectures, seminars, conferences and analysis from 1988 to the present. A depth orientation or, as sometimes stated, psychodynamic psychotherapy informs my counseling practices.

As a clinician my role includes providing:

- reflective listening

- guidance when occasioned in goal setting

- feedback for reflection related to skill development

- support of creativity and development of problem solving

- encouragement of insight development

- motivation of personal resource development

I have great respect for those who seek assistance on life's journey and look forward to being a supportive presence and resource for those who come to work with me.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions. Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

After only one session with Susan I am already incredibly impressed by her knowledge and expertise. Her unique training very clearly provides her with a deep layered perspective that I have never had from a therapist before and I’m looking forward to continuing and delving in more with her in the coming weeks. By far the most impressed and grateful I’ve been with a first therapy session, leaving it with homework to lay a foundation for future work in a way I’ve never done before that will be very beneficial. Very grateful to have discovered Susan on here!

Susan is an exceptional therapist she is engaged and helps me to keep my life moving in a positive direction. What I love most is she is not afraid to tell me when I start veering away from what I hold most important in my life. I couldn’t imagine my journey being as successful with anyone else by my side.

Dec 2023

Susan has been a fantastic resource and therapist the last year I have been seeing her. Professional, friendly, and always responsive, while I know selecting a therapist is always a very personal choice Id recommend Susan to anyone interested in learning more about themselves and working through trauma.

S.T.·Jun 2022

Susan Jenczka is an amazing therapist who listens carefully and then asks questions that cut right to the heart of things. Her loving and creative spirit as well as her therapeutic expertise have been enormously helpful to me as I deal with life-long issues stemming from early childhood abuse. I was skeptical that an online service such as Better Help could really answer my needs, but their matching me with Dr. Jenczka was brilliant! I am so grateful.

J.E.·Jun 2022

Susan naturally picked up on my issues and emotions that were blocking my growth as a mother to my teenage daughter. After just 1 session Susan, gave me tools, and confidence to support my daughter in ways, that weren’t obvious to me. She is like a wise older mother and friend that I needed, to share my insecurities and issues with so I could be stronger for my daughter and family. Each session, I liked that we worked through what was at the surface of my emotions that week. Susan helped me to identify and get out those old experiences that were preventing me from seeing the bigger picture. The tools Susan offered me has helped me to Be calmer, more confident, a better listener and witness to my daughter. I will be forever grateful for Susan’s insight in helping me through some things that I didn’t have anywhere else to turn.

J.I.·Mar 2022

Susan takes a deeper approach to issues, and offers homework assignments that help me understand myself better. She helps focus on the goals and the solutions.

A.B.·Jan 2022

Susan has been enormously helpful in guiding me through an interesting transitional period in my life. As an art person, I have a proclivity towards heading down the annoying whiney path of the art crisis. Susan helped me work through my fears and frustrations and find logical next steps to help me feel more fulfilled and happier both artistically and in life overall. I highly recommend her and her special brand of musical wisdom.

D.A.·Dec 2021

I was in rough shape, and I know finding counsel during this pandemic can take months (I've tried). Hopping on BetterHelp, getting matched with Susan, and working with her every week was hugely helpful. She assisted me at a time when I was really struggling, offered valuable advice and direction, and listened without even a hint of judgement. I highly recommend working with Susan.

A.R.·Oct 2021

Susan is amazing at seeing through all of the information I give her and narrowing it to a concise and eye-opening assessment. I feel heard, understood, and have been given many realistic exercises as takeaways from my sessions. So happy I finally signed up for counseling.

S.A.·Aug 2021

Susan was very professional and helped me work through my issues.

C.A.·Aug 2021

Susan is kind and caring with a wealth of clinical expertise. She is approachable and has tools to offer me for support.

J.E.·Jul 2021

Susan's background and training was a perfect match for me. She is empathetic, perceptive, and interactive. She was able to give direction to me in ways that helped me follow through with homework that was of real benefit to me. (I usually haven't followed through with homework before.)

L.A.·Jul 2021

She is a very introspective woman who clearly cares about my concerns and emotional and spiritual needs. I'm happy to have her as my councilor.
