I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Massachusetts with over 15 years experience, and I have worked with many different types of mental health issues including schizophrenia, major depression, anxiety disorders, low self esteem and assertiveness issues, relationship problems, and parenting and/or family related issues. I am opposed to discrimination or abuse of any kind by anyone regardless of whether it is a personal or professional relationship, and I have been advocating for people with mental health issues for many years.
I try to focus on helping people to believe in themselves, and I choose to work collaboratively with people towards their own life goals. If you are uncertain of which direction you would like to go, we can discuss together what brought you to this site and what treatment plan might work for your needs. I use cognitive behavioral approaches along with solution focused talk therapy to achieve the goals we will set.
The level of effort and work required will differ from person to person, but I will be in your corner every step of the way. I look forward to meeting you and working with you.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Good listener
We have a good relationship and I feel Bruce understands my needs.
Great
Very intuitive
Bruce is an excellent therapist, very considerate and relatable, with a deep toolbox to approach one's day-to-day struggles. Though I've only been with Bruce for a short time, he is clearly very experienced and has great skill as a listener and giver of quality counseling. Conversations with him always feel safe and productive. I would highly recommend working with him!
My sessions with Bruce are very productive and helpful. Video calls are a wonderful way to do therapy.
Bruce always gets back to you in a timely manner. He truly has helped me get my life back on track
Bruce is very thoughtful in his responses and knows when to give me the solution or guide me to it. I’ve enjoyed our sessions so far and highly recommend working with him. In particular, he gives me a different perspective and responds even outside of our live sessions. Thank you, Bruce!
Bruce is an excellent therapist! He's extremely thoughtful and a great listener.
Bruce has helped me greatly
Bruce is one of the best therapists I have ever worked with. He listens to my concerns, has great feedback, and I leave our sessions with a goal or tools in mind for to help get over whatever hurdle I am challenged with.
He’s the best, always is super helpful
Bruce is a great therapist. He listens to you and gives really thoughtful advice. I would highly recommend him to anyone needed personal or relationship based therapy.
I had 5 different therapists before him, and I almost gave up to find a therapist for my depression and anxiety. In college, my major was psychology and that made me even harder to trust someone as a therapist. However, I felt that I finally found a real professional in the first meeting with Bruce. By now, I have been having therapy sessions with Bruce for 5 months, and here are three points that I want to share about him. First, he is very responsible. He is NOT the one who does therapy just because it is what he can do during his extra time. He understands that sometimes my depression and anxiety need extra support, and he makes me comfortable to take that help. If you really need him at a challening moment, he will be there. Second, he knows what I really need, how much I can do, and when to suggest it. He does suggest some things to do to improve my situation right now, but he knows the right amount of work I can handle. Moreover, he knows when to suggest new stuffs or to delay some of plans, so I don't get overwhelmed, or won't make mistakes. And his suggestions are very helpful to get through the challenging situations. Lastly, he doesn't miss clues and utilizes them to analyze my situations. Sometimes it is hard to see my reality by myself, and it boosts my anxiety. It used to give me nightmares everyday, and my sleep pattern was awful. It is hard to find the orgin of my depression and anxiety, but he always listens to me carefully and remember the vaild points even if they are small. When he tells me his insights based on those clues, then I see what happened to me. I can't even remember all the things that I like about the sessions with him right now, but I believe that what I want to say is delivered. Please don't hesitate to contact him for yourself. When I was looking for a therapist in the beginning, my friends told me 'women are usually better, people around your age(which is young adult) will understand you better, people of color will support you more(since I am an Asian)', but look at my therapist. I am sure that my friends' recommendations were reasonable, but on top of everything, he is the right one for me. Thus, no matter who you are, or what's your concerns are, please feel free to talk to him. You will be blessed :)
Bruce is great
Many thanks for your great help, Bruce. It’s making a difference.
Bruce inquires about my well being and listens. He does well with giving me techniques to better myself as well as having better coping techniques. He is genuine, and a pleasure to chat with.
Bruce, in our short time so far, I am a pleased client. You are attentive, you offer sound advice and worksheets to help with specific things. You reply all times of the day and do not limit our sessions in any way. Thanks!
I think that Dr Bruce Richard's is a great counselor. I really like his style and I am only ending our sessions bcuz I can't afford to pay out of pocket anymore. I really like how his easy going personality comes thru as we talk to each other in our "Live" chats. I found he writes as I write, as if we were really in a room talking to each other. He gave great advice/ideas and explained how they would help in the situation. I highly recommend him. He reaches out thru numerous text/notes to you, not just on your appts. I do recommend that you participate in the Journal writing where your entries go directly to him, he responds very quickly. He is A++ in my book and completely changed my mind about mental health therapists ...for the better obviously:)
