Welcome! My name is Jennifer Boden Gaumer and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Southern California with over ten years of experience in providing therapy services. I have worked in many therapeutic settings including: a hospital-based child guidance clinic, residential treatment center, and community-based professional parenting program for teenagers in foster care. I work with clients with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting problems, ADHD, OCD and, learning disabilities. As a trained forensic interviewer, I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

Originally from Connecticut, I relocated to Southern California in 2009. I earned my Masters in Social Work degree from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work in 2001. My undergraduate degree is in Psychology from Clark University in Massachusetts.

My counseling style is warm, interactive, and caring. I use various forms of psychotherapy (e.g., talk-therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and problem-solving therapy) to help my clients develop the tools necessary to address and/or relieve troubling symptoms and make positive improvements to their lives. The journey to starting a therapeutic relationship is one built on courage, strength, and trust. It takes courage to recognize the need for help, strength to believe in yourself, and trust in the therapeutic process.

Outside of being a therapist, I am an avid gardener and home renovation fan. I also enjoy reading, going to the beach, and traveling to new places with my husband and two daughters.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I’ve been having sessions with Jen for over a year. She’s really got to know me and what’s important to me. She also has a pretty good knowledge of what bothers me and it helps us process my week in a way that is so wildly helpful. Thank you!

Jenn is a wonderful therapist. She largely just listens as I work out my issues. She offers a suggestion or brings up an anecdote from a past session occasionally that gives me perspective on myself and it’s very helpful. Everyone has a different style and hers works particularly good for me

My life has radically changed since I started working with Jen through BH. It’s so comforting to know I have someone who is there for me without judgement. She is easy to access, and I look forward to our sessions.

I have been seeing Jennifer for I think a few months now. I have stopped and come back to her when issues have risen. She is so great at plainly just listening first of all, and really understands the position you are in. She , almost every session, makes me think of something i did not think of and really puts into perspective why I may be feeling a certain way. I always leave our sessions with a fresh breath of air. I have shared a lot with Jennifer and never have i ever felt judged. She is very knowledgeable and understanding, she helps break down thoughts in a non- confrontational way.

Jennifer has been an absolute joy to work with. When I entered the program I was dealing with very heavy anxiety and medicating. She helped me talk through my concerns, listened, and gave me relevant exercises which really helped. A+++++ She's radically helped me to have a better life.

When someone has a LOT of issues and unresolved conflicts, it helps to have a relationship with a therapist that makes you feel happy and comfortable and trusting. I'm grateful to have found Jennifer. She is helping me be more relaxed and approaching situations/people differently. She is kind and smart but also does ask questions that make you think/redirect. Jen is such a sweet and caring person. She listens intently and asks questions to not only help me and make me think of why I am feeling this way but to understand my thoughts and feelings more herself. She will take note of certain things I say, like my birthday, or family members birthdays. I have had a couple sessions where I kind of broke down crying and she did not judge me at all. She sat there watched me cry and made herself available to my vulnerable side. She has a very relaxed, and empathetic vibe to her. Very easy to talk. Our conversations can be very serious sometimes but we also can crack some jokes together. I am very grateful and blessed to have her as my therapist. Thank you so much Jen.
