As a licensed counselor with approximately 18 years of experience as a counselor, I like to find what your interest is in being in counseling and what you hope to gain from the experience. When taking small steps, this gains confidence that you can succeed in making the changes that you present to counseling to discuss. The idea of counseling is that you learn to be your own therapist.

My background as a licensed counselor is cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) which simply means using your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to make changes in your life. Being a Certified Neuro Change Therapist has allowed me to more fully communicate how my training and experiences, helps me as a Therapist to incorporate the other Best Practice techniques and skills that I implement with individuals such as CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), mindfulness, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Other issues that I have worked with in therapy are anger, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and OCD.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space. Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Mary provided new insights to me to cope with some issues I have allowed to be a burden for a very long time. She gave me new tools, and new perspective. I think it is important to be challenged, and Mary does that in a non-threatening way. She seems to know when to listen, and when to be heard.

There are points or periods in one’s life when they need feedback from a respected source. In this ever-changing world, during difficult times sometimes it’s hard to navigate your own thoughts. For me Mary has been cognitive dose of relief. Behavioral changes can only be made through cognitive disciplines! And every once in a while I need a tuneup! Running on all cylinders makes life joyful!
