More about Allison

  • 3 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina, with 3 years of experience in the field, including both medical and community-based practice. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, self-harm, anxiety, family dynamics, parenting difficulties, personality and mood disorders. Due to increased need for trauma-oriented therapy, I am currently in the process of acquiring certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

My counseling style is warm, accepting, and collaborative. My therapeutic approach is person-centered and humanistic, combining the modalities of cognitive behavioral therapy; solution-focused therapy; motivational interviewing; acceptance and commitment therapy; and mindfulness techniques. I will tailor your treatment plan to encompass your unique needs in your present mindset, while also providing opportunities for self-discovery and personal evolution.

It takes incredible courage to pursue personal truth and growth outside of your comfort zone, and you have already taken the first step. If you feel you are ready to continue, I am honored and excited to support you in your journey.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I feel so lucky to have found Allison. I had briefly attempted therapy in the past, years ago, and quickly felt it was a waste of time. And now I look forward to communicating with her and receiving feedback. From our first session I felt a huge weight off my shoulders and my anxiety was greatly reduced. I found her at the perfect time. I would definitely recommend her and have recommended her to friends.
